Can ghosts follow you home?

Hi everyone....so here's the question.....Can ghosts follow you home?  I could "dance around" the answer... but let me be blunt.  The answer is YES.  It is not common, but it CAN happen.  Now, with that being said lets talk about it.

There are reports of individuals having a particular ghost or spirit follow them home.  Some ghosts and spirits can attach themselves to objects, individuals, and or families.  Some people have reported taking something from a site that is said to be haunted....lets say something as simple as a stone from a building and suddenly finding that they have "bad luck" or unusual "things" just start happening.  Coincidence?  Maybe or maybe not.  Some people report purchasing an antique that has a ghost attached to it and it follows them home.  A ghost is not bound to a certain location, only drawn there because it was of significance to them when they were living.

I believe that sometimes ghosts or spirits will attach themselves to a person or family because they have been angered in some way..... but I also believe that sometimes a ghost or spirit may follow you home because they like you.  Sounds crazy? Well, think about it.  Do you want to be around people that are nice to you?  I think it is the same for spirits.  Lets say you have a location that is said to be haunted by a little girl.  Parents died tragically and she was left all alone and eventually dies herself.  You may have "people" that want to come investigate for the sheer purpose of making fun of ghosts or spirits.....then you have someone "like you and I, the GOOD ghost hunters" (LOL) that truly care about what happened to the souls of this location.  So, what do we do....we talk as if we were talking to a child (no tauting) and we offer candy or we bring toys with us for the spirit to play with.  This little lost soul of the little girl has been lonely for so long and now someone wants to talk to her and play, she doesn't want you to leave.  So, she "attaches" herself and follows you home where she can be with you always.  So, there you go....instant new daughter! LOL  Also, beware of buying "used" objects as the same principle may apply.  Except, they may love the OBJECT and NOT you.

Now, this doesn't mean ghosts are just waiting to hitch-a-ride home with you, so don't start to worry yet.  But sometimes, you may "invite" them in by accident....say by using a Ouija Board.  You may be trying to contact with your departed loved one but that may NOT be who comes through.  If it decided it likes, or can manipulate you , it may just stay.....and LETS BE CLEAR...the spirit that decides it wants to stay through Ouija Board may not be very nice at all.  So, this is nothing to play around with, so if you ARE going to use a Ouija Board be sure and take measures to protect yourself.  And just for the record, I NEVER AND WILL NEVER USE A OUIJA BOARD!!!

Lets talk about how to protect yourself from a spirit (good or bad) from attaching itself to you and following you home. Before and after say a prayer that says the ghosts or spirit is not allowed, or welcome to follow any of us home, and they need to stay at the location.  I take this very seriously, as we all have families, and friends that do not want a ghost to follow them home.  I believe you will start to see this more and more on all the TV Paranormal shows.

It seems that ghosts hunting has become quite popular over the last several years....now me....I was doing it when everyone thought I was crazy!!!  And if you have been doing this for any length of time, you know what I'm talking about.  "Hey.....lets go catch a movie and dinner".......sorry I can't, I'm going to go set in a cemetery for hours with a flashlight and see what happens.  LOLLLL

The metaphysical dangers of an investigation are real and should be taken seriously.  If it were only the physical and emotional thing to worry about, then this field of study could be done by almost anyone....but that's not the case.  Sometimes things we are looking for are there, and more often than not these things can and do follow us home at the end of the night.  This is where the dangers come in.

I believe it is my duty to tell you while ghost hunting can be very exciting, scary, and mind blowing, there are dangers.  Yes, anyone can grab a recorder, ask a question and get a response.  And yes, if you do not know how to protect yourself, anyone can have their lives turned upside down by unseen forces. I cannot express enough how important it is, if you want to become an investigator or you want to get involved in the paranormal, that you go with a team that has years of experience and is fully aware of the dangers out there and how to conduct themselves professionally and, most of all, safely.

So, is it possible for a ghost to follow you home? Yes.  Is it rare? Yes.  Do I want you to stop investigating because your scared...NO.  Just take precautions and you should be fine.

Now, enough with all the serious stuff.  For myself, personally it is one of the most rewarding and fun things I do.  I love it with all my heart and will continue to research and look for answers in the field of paranormal. I look at it like any "sport" or hobby....playing professional football you have to watch out for the big, bad, muscle guy that is going to nail you on the field possibility breaking your bones.  I have to watch out for the "dead people"......the ones that like to play tricks on you or even some having a bad attitude.  Oh well....I'm still "IN"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shadow People-Who are they???

Hi everyone.  Well it's Tuesday evening so tonight I am going to talk about Shadow people and who they are or might be.

Wikipedia says......Shadow people are supernatural shadow-like humanoid figures that, according to believers, are seen flickering on walls and ceilings in the viewer's peripheral vision.^[1] They are often reported moving with quick, jerky movements, and quickly disintegrate into walls or mirrors. They are believed to be evil and aggressive in nature, although a few people consider them to be a form of guardian angel.

I believe Shadow people are ghost or spirits that are manifesting themselves to be seen.  Now, I know many people believe that Shadow people are inter-dimensional beings.  That they are in some way connected to outer space and aliens.  I on the other hand, believe that Shadow people can be explained away a lot of time.  They are usually seen out of the corner of your eye or in your peripheral vision as dark or blurry figures. Possible explanations..... it IS actually the silhouette of a real person or animal, optical illusions or hallucinations which could be caused by different medications, stress or just the mind "playing tricks on you".  I know that is not a great answer but it's all I have right now.  :)  I would love to hear any of your opinions about the subject.

Again, Shadow people can be different things to different people.  I'm not saying I DON'T believe in Shadow people...I just think there is no difference between them and ghosts or spirits.  Both are here for a reason, both are not of the "real or now world" and both are trying to stay behind for some reason.    There does however, seem to be a connection with the Native Americans and Shadow people.  Just saying..... maybe because of the belief of returning to the real life after death is a huge part of the Native American culture.

Ghost Hunting Equipment-I

Hi everyone.  Hope your Tuesday night is going great.  So, tonight lets talk  about ghost hunting equipment.  I am not going to talk about big, fancy equipment because the title of my blog is Becks Everyday Ghost Hunter so I want to talk about equipment that the everyday ghost hunter can afford and use.

First, the ghost detector......These are inexpensive and a great little piece of equipment to have your in your ghost hunting bag.  They cost about $35.   The most popular one is called the Ghost Meter.  I really like this one because it is very easy to use.  It has a easy to read needle, lights and sound.  Again, I am not promoting any one product, I am just giving you my opinion. :)
The EMF Ghost Meter is used to measure disruptions  in the electromagnetic Field of a location.  This can sometimes be an indication of a spirits presence.



Next, the K-II meter is another EMF device that is a little more expensive(about $70).  It works the same way as the Ghost Meter but the basic one does not have sound and instead of a needle it uses a series of lights to show EMF levels.  The K-II is my personal favorite.  All you have to do is turn it on and that's it.  So, unlike the Ghost Meter, you can sit it down and walk away.  You can communicate by watching the lights moving up and down.  This is great when it is dark.  And we all know that most of our ghost hunting is done in the dark.  With the K-II,  you don't have to have a light to see the needle like you would when using the Ghost Meter.

 

I just think it is a must..... that if you are serious, or even if your not, but you are wanting to collect evidence of a spirit or haunting you need a digital recorder.  These can be purchased anywhere and the prices vary from $30-over $100.  The one I use is a Sony and cost about $60.  I have included a link to a EVP I recorded at the Old Alton Bridge saying my name(Becky).  And just for the record....when a spirit calls you by name......YOU LISTEN!!!!!!!!!!!   So, get a recorder...you need one!

Of course, it goes without saying....you need a good camera.  In my opinion, you need something that is more than 7 mega pixel.  Using a digital camera is one of the most important pieces of equipment when you are trying to collect evidence of a ghost.  The price of a digital camera can vary so much it just depends on your budget as to which one to get.  Just a quick note here, when you are using a digital camera be sure to snap TWO photos back to back if you are feeling a spirit may present.  This is just a way to prove or disprove what you have captured on camera.  I personally always like to use the time and date stamp on my photos, just to help me analyze my photo.  Lots of people do not like this feature, they feel it takes away from the picture.  So, to each their own...:)  I also love that so many of today's camera's have video on them as well, so you get two great things in one!  I really like Nikon camera's.  But again, it's just my opinion.  There are many great ones on the market.





There are many more pieces of equipment I would love to talk to you about, but for tonight I think that's it.  The things I've talked about above, I feel, are things you need to have a great night of ghost hunting.  Of course, don't forget your flashlights and extra batteries.  But you guys already know that. :)  Thanks for reading...Happy Hunting!

Hi everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man....what a year!!!  I don't know how this new year could get any better than the last...but come on 2013!!!!!!!!!!

 

I have posted some really cool pictures of the Queen Mary on Long Beach,CA.  What a ship!  This is one of the most beautiful ships I have ever been on.  I am hoping to make another trip back to spend the night on the Queen Mary in February.  Can't wait....all night ghost hunting!

Ok...so let me tell you a little about the Queen Mary.

 

In 1936, upon her Maiden Voyage, she was considered one of the grandest ocean liner ever built.  During her heyday, she was considered the only civilized way to travel.  With the outbreak of WWII, she was transformed into a troopship overnight.  By the end of the war, "The Gray Ghost", as she was fondly called, had carried more than 800,000 troops, traveled more than 600,000 miles and played a significant role in virtually every major Allied campaign.  Retired in 1967, she was purchased by the City of Long Beach and has remained an icon for the city for over 40 years.

 

Ok, now the good stuff.....the haunting's....and ghost of the Queen Mary.

 

Over the past 60 years, the Queen Mary has been the site of at least 49 reported deaths, not to mention having gone through the terrors of war, so it comes as no surprise that spectral spirits of her vivid past continue to walk within her rooms and hallways.

Located 50 feet below water level is the Queen Mary's engine room, which is said to be a hotbed of paranormal activity. Used in the filming of the Poseidon Adventure, the room's infamous "Door 13" crushed at least two men to death, at different points during the ship's history. The most recent death, during a routine watertight door drill in 1966, crushed an 18 year-old crew member. Dressed in blue coveralls and sporting a beard, the young man has often been spied walking the length of Shaft Alley before disappearing by door #13.

 

Two more popular spots for the Queen’s other worldly guests are its first and second class swimming pools. Though neither are utilized today for their original purpose, spirits seemingly are not aware of that. In the first class swimming pool, which has been closed for more than three decades, women have often been seen appearing in 1930’s style swimming suits wandering the decks near the pool. Others have reported the sounds of splashing and spied wet footprints leading from the deck to the changing rooms. Some have also spied the spirit of a young girl, clutching her teddy bear. I loved this place.  it is very creepy and you kinda get a feeling you are not alone near the pool area.  Really wanted to spend more time here.   In the second class poolroom, the spirit of another little girl named Jackie is often been seen and heard. The unfortunate girl drowned in the pool during the ship’s sailing days and reputedly refused to move on, as her voice, as well as the sounds of laughter has been captured here. In the Queen’s Salon, which once served as the ship’s first-class lounge, a beautiful young woman in an elegant white evening gown has often been seen dancing alone in the shadows of the corner of the room. If you ever get the chance...visit this ship!  It is amazing!!!!
