About Me

My photo
Behind Every Cloud is a Kindred Spirit (BECKS)I lost my grandfather when I was 17. I had a VERY difficult time getting over it. How could I still communicate with him? I loved him so much I didn't think I could live without him. I read everything I could get my hands on to do with the "afterlife" and that started it all...the love of Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal. I have been researching the paranormal for over 37 years!! It is my way of staying in touch with my grandfather. Being a Ghost Hunter is not always as exciting as it seems on TV. Many nights I have sat in the dark and not a thing happened. BUT it is those times you DO get that one voice, that one explainable picture or have an experience that sends chills down your back that makes it sooo worth it all!!! My purpose of this blog is not to make people believe in ghosts but maybe to open their minds just a little bit... I LOVE this crazy thing called Ghost Hunting. It is as much a part of me as breathing. I am just a girl that refuses to accept we can't still contact our loved ones after they die. My grandfather won't let me.

GHOST HUNTING EQUIPMENT FOR BEGINNERS

So, the name of this blog is Becks Everyday Ghost Hunters so I like to suggest tools that don't "break the bank" per say......  These are items that anyone should be able to obtain fairly easily and inexpensively.  Listen, you don't have to have big, fancy equipment to do some exploring and get results.  Just go in with an open mind that what you are here for.... is the TRUTH!!!  So I caution you NOT to automatically assume that everything that moves, makes sounds or seem a little unusual is paranormal.  IT'S NOT!!!  We want to find out what is causing things to move....such as a door opening by itself......don't assume it MUST be a ghost opening it....where in reality it's just an uneven door that never stays shut.  Disappointing.....I know... not nearly as exciting as finding  a ghost but wouldn't you rather know the TRUTH???

One of the BIGGEST MISTAKES people make in Ghost Hunting is NOT letting others know where you are going and about how long you expect to be gone.  PLEASE PLEASE do this!!!!! Make sure it is someone NOT going on the hunt. Let someone know where you are going to be in case of an emergency.

Below are just the BASICS...

-Flashlights(with plenty of backup batteries)
-Paper and pen or pencil
-Camera( more than one preferably) Make sure that it is at lease a 7meg or higher for best results.
-Video Camera( Doesn't have to be a fancy one with all kinds of buttons, just an inexpensive one
                           will  work)
-Alternate light source...candles(Just be very careful when using candles that they are put in a place
that the wind or someone could hit and knock over and start a fire)
-Digital Recorder-Only suggestion here, is make sure your recordings can be downloaded to a computer.

Ok.  Here are some basic Ghost Hunters Must haves!

ELF ZONE-EMF METER-Learn how to explorer and investigate the invisible electromagnetic waves that surround you with the exciting E.L.F.meter.

What this meter lacks in resolution it makes up with ease of use and very low costs. A favorite among beginner ghost hunters. Three LED lights which are easy to see in the dark indicate field strength. Green light - 0-2.5 mG (safe). Yellow light - 2.5 - 7 mG (caution). Red light - 8 or more mG (danger). 9-volt battery not included.

This is a very low cost way to begin your ghost hunting adventures.  The cost should be somewhere between $15-$20. This was the very first piece of "equipment" I bought when I started out going to graveyards and wondering the halls of haunted buildings.  It is a fun little meter. Very, very, easy to read.  Great for beginners..... You should get you one.

It has C/F temperature display selectable, auto-power off, back light, and comes with a neckband and
a soft padded case for protection. The neckband makes it convenient for ghost hunters to wear while their hands are free, but as soon as a cold spot is detected the small infrared thermometer is available to shot in the direction of the temperature disturbance. A great affordable device to use for finding cold spots during ghost investigations.

The La Cross Infrared Thermometer

I love this little gadget!  It is light weight and very easy to use.  You just point it in any direct and it will give you a digital reading on the temp.  Great for detecting cold spots.  Now, it does cost a bit more than the EMF meter above, but to me it is worth it.  You should be able to find these anywhere from $50 and up.  They are small so they can even fit in your pocket, just in case that unexplained chair lefts off the floor....you may want to check out. ;)

Product Details
The K-2 METER-Next, the K-2
Meter is another EMF device
that is a little more expensive(about $70)
The K-2 is my personal favorite.  All you have to
do is turn it on and that's it.  You can communicate
by watching the lights moving across and lighting up.
This is great when it's dark.  And we all know that
most of our Ghost Hunting is done at night.  There
is no needle to watch like with the Ghost Meter.
 The Energizer Cap Light
This is a great little green light to use for night investigations.  It comes in a variety of colors, but I like the green one.  I don't use it clipped to a cap(like it is made for) I just carry it around and shine it wherever I want.  Very bright and you can find them at Wal-Mart for around $6 or $7.

Now, go start building your own Ghost Tool Kit.  Let me know if you find something you think could be useful to others.....HAPPY HUNTING!!!  Also, if you are going on your FIRST GHOST HUNT I would love to hear about your experience.  You can post it here or email me.....

MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS IN OKALHOMA. MAY YOU FIND THE STRENGTH TO REBUILD YOUR COMMUNITIES AND YOUR HEARTS!

DEMONS-ARE THEY REAL???

Have you ever felt something so frightful....so terrifying.....so evil..... that you can't catch your breath???  More than likely, this is YOUR six sense telling you something is just NOT right and you should seek protection as soon as possible.

Before I start this topic, let me say that I am uncomfortable even writing about it.  It is something that I feel should be talked about by someone with more experience in this field than me.  It's like being a Doctor.  There are many physicians around but inside that group of physicians you have ones that specialize in certain areas......general practice, gynecologist, dermatologist, orthopedic anyway you get the point. I think I fall in the "general practice" category.  LOL  But because I have been asked to write about Demons...I will attempt to do my best.

A demon or daemon is a paranormal, often malevolent being prevalent in religion, occultism, literature, fiction, and folklore.   A person considered extremely wicked, evil, or cruel.

Demons are to be considered extremely evil and extremely clever in the art of human persuasion.   This is why research and the history of a location is VERY important BEFORE doing an investigation.  You MUST know what you are going up against.  Sometimes, your spirit can be very friendly and then again....you have spirits that are very evil.  This is one reason that my style of investigating does NOT include "taunting" like Zak from Ghost Adventures(sorry Zak).  Again, spirits were at one time on this earth, living and breathing just like you and I, so treat them with respect.... just like I would hope we all do now.  I know my grandfather is on the Other Side and I don't want ANYONE talking to him that way or any of my family or friends that have pasted before me.

It is possible to believe in ghosts but not in demons, which are part of a spiritual hierarchy ranging from evil on one side to good on the other.  Sometimes powerful ghost can masquerade as a demon simply to heighten the fear factor and undermine the sanity of its victim.  Maybe it is trying to get you  to leave a location.....or flat doesn't like YOU!

As I've mentioned before I am not a demonologist, nor do I want to be. Though the spirit world is highly intriguing and extremely rewarding at times, the side-effects of getting involved with spirits can be terrifying at their worst. I don't have a step-by-step guide to getting rid of demons but I do no that demons feed off negative energy just like good spirits feed off good energy.  So back to the demons... Demons feed off of negative energy, so if you get rid of the negative energy the demon has less power, less time in our plane, and thus less effect on people and things that exist in our plane. Understanding this is VITAL to keeping evil away.

Some people use rituals to cleanse people, places, or things that are believed to be cursed. An exorcism is commonly used.  AGAIN, seek professional guidance before you try any of these rituals.

So, I don't think I can say much more about demons....you guys already know that demons are evil and should be taken seriously.  PLEASE PLEASE don't try to deal with a spirit yourself if you believe it is demonic!!!!!  Seek professional help and pray.

POLTERGEISTS- SHOULD YOU BE SCARED????

When I hear the word "Poltergeists" a couple of things come to mind.  Of course, I think of evil, things moving, levitation's, demons, unusual electric behavior, Amityville Horror, the movie "Poltergeist" where the little girl says.......THEY'RE HERE......You know the one...:)

http://www.zimbio.com/watch/fn4qtPSITZT/Poltergeist/Beatrice+Straight

Poltergeist means "noisy ghost".  Parapsychologists explain poltergeist as a situation caused by the subconscious mind of a living agent, undergoing emotional and/or psychological stress.  Now to  me that suggest no "spirit" is involved in anyway.  But WE know better!  Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between ghosts, apparitions and poltergeist.  On the surface, all three have the same appearance....strange noises, moving objects, and ghostly figures but if we look deeper we begin to unearth facts that show the differences becoming more and more pronounced.  The  poltergeist is a noisy, mischievous, destructive entity prone to acts of mindless violence.  Unlike a traditional ghost haunting that is associated with a particular place or event..... PEOPLE seem to attract poltergeist
activity.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUKZUSvrqgA

The current theory behind poltergeist activity is that the activity is caused by a person in the household, know as the "human agent".  This is usually a young, adolescent girl going through some troubled emotional time.  It is not known why this energy seems to appear to females around this age, but in documented cases, this seems to be the common factor.  But let me say, it can happen to anyone!

Ok...now that I got all the "informational" stuff out of the way, let me give you my personal opinion on poltergeists.  I do believe in the theory that poltergeist activity can be connected with one person that is manifesting through anger or emotional stress by the subconscious mind.  BUT........not ALWAYS do I believe this is the case.  Spirits of ALL kinds are present around us.  Poltergeist are the spirits that lets say.... just don't want to "play" with you.... they  DEMAND that you see them.....and if they need to move, throw things and even harm you then that's what they will do!!!  It's like being on a playground and you have kids that just want to play(ghost) and then you have a BULLY(poltergeist)that WILL get his way no matter what he has to do!
Ok.... I don't want to say I'm SCARED of poltergeist but......I'm SCARED of poltergeist!!! I have been in a lot of scary places and seen a lot of scary stuff and like to think I am not easily scared...but places that have reported evil, demons and poltergeist....I think you have to be EXPERIENCED with THOSE kind of spirits.  I try to protect myself and my team members so I choose NOT to investigate those kinds of places with such of activity.  Please be careful IF you do!!!  Make sure you understand how to protect yourself and handle the events associated with the haunting.  Now, give me.... mean, cranky, murdered, killed, ticked off (lol) spirits all day long..... I can handle them.....but demonic......NO THANKS!!! Think I'll pass. LOL What do think?  Ever experienced poltergeist activity?

COOL HAUNTED PLACES II- MY FAVORITES

Hello hello hello.....I am sitting here trying to figure out what would be my favorite TOP THREE places I have actually visited or done an investigation on....hhhuummm MAN this is hard!!!  I have been so fortunate to have over the years, got to go to places and see things that I could only imagine I would get to see being your normal everyday Ghost Hunter.  But I am up for the challenge of picking my three favorite places.  So....here goes....

In 3rd place-DRY CREEK CEMETERY in Terrell, Tx-

Named for a nearby ravine, this burial ground originally served the community of Turner's Point. Located on the stage road between Shreveport, Louisiana, and Dallas, the settlement was established by Elisha Turner in 1845. In the 1870s the town was moved to a new location (1.5 miles southeast) and renamed Poetry. The earliest marked grave at this site is that of Samuel Key (1840-1871). Now closed for burials, the cemetery has 279 marked graves bearing names of the English, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh pioneer settlers of the area.

I read about this cemetery a couple of years ago and was so intrigued that I JUST had to pay a visit. This cemetery is located on the outskirts of Terrell. It is a long drive about 9 miles out to the country. It is nestled among some really old, really big trees. As SOON as you drive up you can tell this is going to be an AWESOME place for paranormal activity. Voices, orbs, lights, mist are all activity reported here.

A group of us went to check it out one weekend and we were NOT disappointed in the activity and experiences we had!!!  We sat up in the middle of the cemetery right in front of a giant old tree.  Don't worry, you won't miss the tree....it is GIANT!!!  You can tell it is the center stone of the cemetery. This cemetery is reported to have a portal in the far right corner.  Also, a spirit named Billy the Cowboy that is suppose to be a bit cantankerous has been reported seen here.  He was hung from a tree back in the 1800's  for a crime he did not commit.  I particularly wanted to speak with him.

We started our investigation by sitting in a group with a flashlight sitting in the middle of us.  We  had citronella candles sitting around us for light and also because it was a hot, summer night and the bugs were really bad!  I just snapped a couple of pics over my shoulders. You'll notice the time stamp on the two pics. The first one was over my left shoulder and the second one was over my right. What a difference?  It was by far the most active part of the cemetery.   I defiantly feel this is where the portal is.  It is NOT dust, nor had we been walking in that area to stir up dust. These two pics where taken back to back so if it had been pollen or something in the air...it would have been in all the pics. This is the only picture we have like this out of all we took. Not another photo looks like this.

What can I say about this place???  It is a GREAT place to go sit quietly, enjoy the sounds of hoot owls and frogs, look up in the sky and see beautiful bright stars....oh yeah....and say HI to Billy for me.  Don't miss this one.

the tree.

The second pic blown up in the portal.
A strange orb that looks like two together shows up in several photos the same way.
Is this Billy's grave?  I think so.
We offered Billy a cigarette and then we started
getting all kinds of communication.

Here is a link to part of our flashlight session.  No laughing........

2nd Place

OLD ALTON BRIDGE, Hickory Creek, TX-Old Alton Bridge (sometimes called Goatman's Bridge - see below) is a historic iron through-truss bridge connecting the cities of Denton, Texas and Copper Canyon, Texas. Built in 1884, by the King Iron Bridge Manufacturing Company, it originally carried horses and later automobiles over Hickory Creek at a location that once was a popular ford for crossing cattle. The bridge takes its name from the abandoned community of Alton, which between 1850-1856 was the seat of Denton County  .

Long story...short.....There was a black goat farmer named Oscar Washburn.  He started becoming well known around the community for selling goats.  Oscar put up a sign on the Old Alton Bridge that said "this way to goatman's".  This was back when the KKK was VERY present in Denton County.  They did not like that Oscar was becoming successful.  So one night they decided to wait for him on the bridge.  When Oscar came to the bridge to cross on his way home, the KKK grabbed him and hung him over the side of the bridge.  Later that night they came to check on Oscar and make sure he was dead.  They found nothing hanging over the side of the bridge but a noose.  No body....no Oscar.  This scared the KKK because they didn't want him to talk about what had happen to him so they went to his house.....only to find that Oscar wasn't their but his wife and children were.  The KKK drug his wife and children out of the house and  brutally murdered them.  I have spoken with Oscar several times and he is such a kind, sweet spirit.  But there is also a spirit I have talked to named Steve and he is a different story!  I believe he was the Grand Dragon of the KKK for the North Texas area.  He has no remorse for what he has done.

Below is a really cool video.  My investigation and evidence is soon to be aired on My Ghost Stories.  After it airs, I will be able to post my evidence for you guys.  And you guys will LOVE it!!!

I have had soooo many experiences here!!!  Some not so good!  I have awesome EVP's, pictures of dark shadows, orbs, balls moving on their own and this is the ONLY place that I have EVER been that I have actually been grabbed.  I believe Steve gabbed(not touched, but GRABBED) my leg while I was sitting in a chair telling him that I knew who he was and what he did!  It was VERY SCARY!!!

When I just need my "ghost fix" I just head out to Old Alton....because I know there.....someone ALWAYS wants to talk or be seen.

Ok........Are you ready????? Really ready????? My ALL TIME FAVORITE PLACE to go Ghost Hunting is........Salem, Mass!!!!  You got it!!! The witch capital of the world and the place where spirits rome freely among the living.  There is just soooo much to do in Salem that it would take me a week to tell all about them.  Salem is mostly known for the famous Witchcraft Trials in 1692.  From June through September of 1692, nineteen men and women, all having been convicted of witchcraft, were carted to Gallows Hill, a barren slope near Salem Village, for hanging. Another man of over eighty years was pressed to death under heavy stones for refusing to submit to a trial on witchcraft charges. Hundreds of others faced accusations of witchcraft. Dozens languished in jail for months without trials. Then, almost as soon as it had begun, the hysteria that swept through Puritan Massachusetts ended.

So, because my post has been soooo long tonight I am just going to post a few of my favorite photos from Salem.  But let me say this......if you want CREEPY.....if you want SCARY......if you want stories after stories of hauntings.....and if you want to be guaranteed a GREAT time of Ghost Hunting....Salem, Massachusetts is the place for you!!!!

NEW QUESTIONS POSTED UNDER QUESTIONS YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW BUT DIDN'T WANT TO ASK 5-2-13

I posted new questions over to the left under Questions you always wanted to know....  Hope you enjoy them.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank one of my followers who has shared a personal story with me about his brother who recently passed.  I take it to heart when someone confides in me on such a personal matter.  I hope my advice was both helpful and supportive for you and your family.  I hope you will be able to find the answers that allow you to continue the healing process.
Again, be careful in your investigation and I will be thinking about you and your family.
