About Me

My photo
Behind Every Cloud is a Kindred Spirit (BECKS)I lost my grandfather when I was 17. I had a VERY difficult time getting over it. How could I still communicate with him? I loved him so much I didn't think I could live without him. I read everything I could get my hands on to do with the "afterlife" and that started it all...the love of Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal. I have been researching the paranormal for over 37 years!! It is my way of staying in touch with my grandfather. Being a Ghost Hunter is not always as exciting as it seems on TV. Many nights I have sat in the dark and not a thing happened. BUT it is those times you DO get that one voice, that one explainable picture or have an experience that sends chills down your back that makes it sooo worth it all!!! My purpose of this blog is not to make people believe in ghosts but maybe to open their minds just a little bit... I LOVE this crazy thing called Ghost Hunting. It is as much a part of me as breathing. I am just a girl that refuses to accept we can't still contact our loved ones after they die. My grandfather won't let me.

PHANTOM PHONE CALLS

Western Electric Model 202

What would you do...... One day your phone rings and when you answer it.....there.....on the other end.....you HEAR the voice...... of your loved one that had just pasted away???

Often, the stories of receiving "ghost call" from a loved, is of a last minute message, such as "I love you" or "Goodbye."  The loved one receiving the true long-distance call is often shocked, recognizing the voice on the other end of the phone as being a deceased family member.

I can tell you from a PERSONAL experience I have seen this happen.  Not to me, but to a friend of mine.  I have a friend that lost a daughter is a violent car accident.  A couple days after the accident, we were standing in my front yard with his wife and myself.  All of the sudden, HER(Wife) cell phone rang.  She didn't recognize the number that appeared on her phones caller ID but went ahead and answered it.  She said "hello" and almost instantly her face went blank......... and her hand started to shake!!!!  We asked "What?  What's wrong?" and she suddenly burst out in tears!!!!  My friend grabbed his wife's phone and said "HELLO!" and there was no one there!!!!  He looked at his wife and asked..... "WHO WAS IT???"  As she began to slump to the ground she said "Terrie" (their daughter that was killed in the accident)  He looked at her with confusion and so did I !!!!!! Did she mean Terrie THEIR DAUGHTER????  She said that the voice on the other end said "Mom, I Love you".  Without a doubt, she pleaded, "it WAS Terrie!!!!!!!! I heard her as plain as day!!!!!!!!!!!!"  Terrie was an only child so it couldn't have been any of her other children calling to say "I love you".  She grabbed the phone from her husband and held it tightly to her chest......sobbing saying "my baby....my baby wanted me to know she loves me".   I was there!  I saw the phone ring with the strange number......I believe that she heard her daughter........Maybe SHE knew her Mom needed one LAST CALL.

Strange enough, when such ghost calls from the dead occur, caller ID screens have been said to display weird phone numbers, such as 000-000-0000. There have even been reports of people receiving the ghost calls as messages on their answering machine or voice mail!

I wanted to share another story about Phantom Calls.   Below is a letter a lady wrote to another ghost group.  And then there is a recording that she received on her answering machine from....who she believes to be her departed Mother.....what do you think?

"We came home one weekend and this was on our answering machine....not sure what it is. If it's not an EVP I'm not going to worry about it. My mom passed away five years ago, and of course, I'd like to think it's her. I can almost make out it saying my name.....probably wishful thinking. I almost deleted it, but thought I'd check caller ID first. There were no calls from anyone we didn't know, and the one or two that did call left messages. It was unusual to me, because of the way the voice sounded. I've never received anything like that before. Plus, I got chill bumps when I first heard it, because it sounded so much like my name. That's got to mean something." - Lanna

Recorded ghost message saying "hey Lanna"

If YOU have ever experienced such calls, PLEASE write me and tell me your story.  I would love to hear them.

THEY STILL WALK THE WALK.....

Thank you Nan.(grandfather)
I love you.
I couldn't let the day go by without a tribute to our men and women that serve, have served, and gave their lives serving this great place we live and call the USA! I am able to lay my head down tonight and fall fast asleep as those brave men and women fight for our freedom as we all sleep safety and peacefully in our beds. From the bottom of my heart and with great appreciation I say...... THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE TONIGHT AND ALWAYS......YOU ROCK!!!!!!

I have listed below ten VERY HAUNTED BATTLEFIELDS.  Of course, with any battlefield where people were brutally killed or wounded during insanely bloody battles lots of souls remain....

 #10-Fort Meigs
Fort Meigs 04
Back before he was a United States president, William Henry Harrison was a general. During the War of 1812, he established Fort Meigs just south of Toledo, Ohio, and successfully defended it against British attacks for over a year before it was finally abandoned and burned down. Because after all, who needs a fort proven to be highly defendable?
These days, people claim to hear cannon fire, muskets, and the sounds of fifes and drums being played, and no one can explain exactly what is causing those sounds. Still more people have stated they hear footsteps and, when walking around outside, have seen apparitions staring at them through the windows. It’s believed that over 500 dead Americans, British, and Indian soldiers are buried in unmarked graves around and underneath the fort, which was reconstructed and opened to the public in 1974.

#9-Fort William Henry
634116888820429433-Fort-William-Henry-New-York
If you have ever read The Last of the Mohicans, or at least watched one of the movie versions, you are familiar with Fort William Henry. Located on Lake George in upstate New York, it was a fort used in the French and Indian War. Of course there is a chance you may have become familiar with the fort through another means: an episode of the television show Ghost Hunters, since rumor has it that Fort William Henry is one of the most haunted military sites in America.
There are ghost tours offered at Fort William Henry, with reports over the years of lights turning on and off as well as the sounds of unexplained footsteps, as well as wind chimes sounding despite the absence of any actual wind. The fort was home to a massacre during the skirmish between Indians and British soldiers, with some believing that the spirits from both sides of the conflict still roam the grounds.

#8-Stoney Creek
Battle Of Stoney Creek
Going back to the War of 1812, but this time hopping across the border and into Canada, we move now to Stoney Creek. Located in Ontario, Stoney Creek was home to Mary Jones Gage and her family. Her husband, who had fought for the British, had died during the American Revolution, and then in 1813 invading American troops stormed the home with the hopes of taking it as their headquarters. The next day, the Battle of Stoney Creek broke out with the Gage family holed up in the basement of their posh home.
Unlike most of our other entries on this list, the Stoney Creek home once owned by the Gage family is not said to be haunted only by deceased soldiers but by Mary Jones Gage herself, whose family had been at one point held captive by American forces during that fateful battle. These days it is believed Gage still haunts the grounds. She died in 1841, and before she could be laid to rest her body and headstone disappeared. In addition to Gage haunting the actual home, there have been reports of misty figures who appeared to be soldiers marching in the area, apparently headed to battle.

#7-Battle Abby
2958105737 6073Ecdb68 Z
In 1066, the Battle of Hastings took place with King Harold II and 7,500 of his Saxons defending against the invading Norman conquest of William, Duke of Normandy. William defeated Harold, and an abbey was built on Senlac Hill with the high altar said to have been placed on the very spot where King Harold perished. Apparently building an abbey on the site of that much bloodshed was a bad idea, considering that over the years there have been numerous bizarre reports.
Apparently, most of the sightings are of ghostly monks rather than soldiers, with visitors claiming to have seen re-enactors dressed in robes wandering the grounds only to be later informed that there were no re-enactors employed at the time. There are some other claims, such as the high altar bleeding and a soldier marching through the Great Hall carrying a sword, but those tales are considerably less substantiated.

#6-Fort Concho
Fortconcho
Built in 1867 in San Angelo, Texas, as an outpost to protect the frontier settlers in West Texas, Fort Concho operated for more than 20 years. Among the commanders who served there was Pecos Bill himself, William Shafter, and today it is considered an historical landmark sitting on 1,600 acres. It saw numerous battles over the years, and its soldiers helped put down the Comanchero Movement, which saw illegal profiteering between Mexican and American traders.
These days, however, it is more famous for being haunted by several ghosts, including the spirits of James Cunningham, George Dunbar, Edith Grierson, and Ranald MacKenzie. MacKenzie was the most famous commander at Fort Concho, and visitors claim to have seen him appear as an apparition throughout the fort, particularly in Officers Row, where he lived for the duration of his time at Fort Concho. The other three, including the spirit of 12 year old Grierson, have been spotted throughout the facility over the years.

#5-Marston Moore
Cromwell-After-The-Battle-Of-Marston-Moor-Xx-Ernest-Crofts
The Battle of Marston Moor was fought on July 2, 1644 during the First English Civil War. 4,000 members of the Royalist side were killed in what was a decisive victory for the Parliamentarians, with Oliver Cromwell leading the victors. Cromwell used the Old Hall in the village was used as a base of operations by Cromwell, and according to legend, he’s there to this day, haunting the grounds.
Oh, and that’s not even mentioning the fact that, apparently, the spirits of the Royalists who were slain in battle still roam the area. There have been reports over the years of phantom soldiers marching in Marston Moor, including possible sightings in 1932, 1968, and 1992, when people reportedly observed long haired, finely dressed soldiers marching along the roads.

#4-Cold Harbor Battlefield
Battlefield-Cold-Harbor

The Battle of Cold Harbor took place from May 31 to June 12, 1864 during the American Civil War, and is considered one of the bloodiest battles in United States history. Union general Ulysses Grant led his men against Confederate general Robert E. Lee in what would turn into a bloodbath, with the Confederates decimating Grant’s troops through the course of the two weeks of fighting. It was one of the last battles for Grant, and one that he would call one of his largest regrets.
The Cold Harbor battlefield is also believed to be one of the most haunted military sites in America, with locals reportedly hearing sounds of the battle to the point where cannon fire, gun fire, and the sounds of screaming men are sometimes reported in the local newspaper. Tourists claim to still smell gunpowder when they visit the historical landmark, and both the Cold Harbor National Cemetery and the Garthright House, located across the street, are said to be haunted by the spirit of a young girl.

#3-Dieppe
Puys-2
The Dieppe Raid, also known as Operation Jubilee, was a precursor to the Normandy Invasion during World War II. Consisting of primarily Canadian soldiers along with some British and a few Americans, the operation commenced on August 19, 1942 and between the hours of 5:00 a.m., when it began, and 2:00 p.m., when the battle ended, the attack proved to be a failure for the Allies. The casualties numbered more than 4,000 before the Allied forces retreated back across the English Channel.
Fast forward to 1951, when a pair of tourists were vacationing in Puys, nearby to Dieppe, and at 4:00 a.m. they were awakened by what sounded like gunfire, shouting voices, and other sounds of battle coming from the beach nearby their hotel. For the next three hours, they listened to the events unfold and documented all of the sounds they heard, and later the Society for Paranormal Research determined that their notes matched up almost to the second to the Dieppe Raid on that exact same beach.

#2-Antietam
Antietam2 Wide-4E74C91779Ef91A41D20E276Ce1A411Edb92D5B8-S6-C10
The American Civil War was an incredibly bloody affair, to put it mildly. However, nowhere was this more evident than at the Battle of Antietam, which took place on September 17, 1862 on Antietam Creek in Maryland. The battle lasted four hours in this tiny area, and the casualties were astonishing. In that one small span of time, more than 23,000 men were killed, wounded, or missing in action. Today, the small road near Antietam Creek where the battle took place is known as Bloody Lane, for a very good reason.

Today, the sound of gunfire and smell of gunpowder is often reported at Bloody Lane, and visitors have claimed to have both seen and heard spirits in the area. Virtually everything surrounding the Battle of Antietam has had reports of haunting, from Burnside’s Bridge, where Ambrose Burnside’s Union soldiers pushed back the Confederates and where the dead were quickly buried in shallow, unmarked graves, to the nearby St. Paul Episcopal Church, which was used as a Confederate hospital in the aftermath of the battle. According to the local legends, the floorboards of the church are so stained in blood that not even sandpaper will take it out.

#1-Gettysburg
Field Where General Reynolds Fell Battle Of Gettysburg Pennsylvania. July 1863
If Antietam was the bloodiest single battle in the American Civil War, Gettysburg is the most famous and, over the course of several days, became one of its bloodiest with more than 50,000 men killed, wounded, or missing. Fought from July 1 through July 3, 1863 in the small town in southeastern Pennsylvania, the Battle of Gettysburg is viewed as the turning point for the Union in the Civil War.
And in the 140 years since the battle was fought, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who visited to Gettysburg who does not have some spooky story to share. At the Daniel Lady Farm, which served as the Confederate field hospital, it is believed that more than 10,000 deceased soldiers still haunt the grounds. Cashtown Inn, where the first soldier in the Battle of Gettysburg was killed, also has some bizarre tales, and the owners claim to have photographic evidence of spirits on the premises, as well as guests reporting hearing knocking on doors, lights turning on and off, and doors locking and unlocking themselves. Those are only a small sampling of the alleged ghostly sightings, which have also been reported at the Gettysburg Hotel and the Baladerry Inn, as well as on the battlefields themselves.

CHAINS RATTLING...A VOICE SAYING..."BOOOO" IS THIS A TRADITIONAL HAUNTING???

For most people when they think of a haunting they think of ghost rattling chains, floating around scaring people by saying "Booooo"!  But really.......that is only in the movies. :)

Lets talk about a Traditional Haunting.  What does that mean?  This type of haunting involves a ghost or ghosts that are intelligent or interactive. This means that they can interact with this world and are aware when people are around and what is going on around them. They may respond to someone who is trying to communicate with them..or maybe even try to appear to them. These types of haunting's are usually connected with a location or a person that is at that location.

This photo was taken at the Alamo around 3:00am.  Do you
think this spirit would be considered a Traditional Haunting?  I had
no interaction with it.
The interactive ghost is the consciousness of the person that once lived. This means that it has all the knowledge, personality and habits of that person. This person may have decided to stay behind instead of moving on, or because of murder, an accidental death, unfinished business, an undying love for someone or many other reasons.
Because of the fact that the ghost retains all of the emotions and personality of the living person it once was, there is the potential for there to be benevolent, peaceful spirits, as well as malevolent, angry spirits. Please do not confuse malevolent spirits with an inhuman entity...a malevolent spirit was once human and may just give off an angry feel in the air and possible tension and animosity around the area that it is haunting. These negative spirits are not evil but angry. This may be due to their confusion and unsure of what is going on around them. This also may mean that in life they may have been an angry person and that it carried over into their death.

A lot of the EVP's that paranormal investigators receive are those of a traditional haunting.  They are responding to questions you may be asking or just stating facts that they know you are there.

The video below is very short but we are setting up in Room #5 at the Haunted Jefferson Hotel.  You hear a very deep raspy voice saying "their here".  Would this be a Traditional haunting?  You tell me...are they directly responding to us?  If so, this would be a Traditional Haunting.

IS THERE MORE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY AFTER A NATURAL DISASTER?

The simple answer is "yes".  It has long been reported that after a natural disaster has occurred  that people almost immediately start to report sightings of ghosts.  Think about all the reasons someone "stays behind"....... unfinished business, can't leave their loved ones, confused-don't know they are dead and many more ......who really knows but wouldn't you agree that in a natural disaster ALL of those reasons would be running through the minds of the victims?  Where there were a lot of "emotional attachments" or "feelings" at a location.....usually the paranormal activity is pretty high.

Disaster ,Ghost Houses, Anger Physical effectsSo, if you think about it.....in a natural disaster such as a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, fire, explosions, etc. what do all these things have?  EMOTION.  Can you imagine the FEAR and the CONFUSION during a natural disaster as a earthquake or hurricane?  Where are my loved ones? What is happening? Am I going to die? What will my loved ones do without me? What about my beloved pets....who will take care of them?  I can't die, I won't get to see my kids grow up?  My husband or wife can't make it without me!  ALL of these things running through YOUR mind......now take that and times it by hundreds and thousands of people thinking the same thing!  The energy in a location like this must be crazy!!!!Confusion, helplessness and chaos running through the minds of the living..........but also of the DEAD!!!

So many times spirits don't even KNOW what happened to them.  Things happened so fast that they don't even realize that they have died and so they try live the same way they always did.   But now maybe with a bit more confusion as to what happened and why their loved ones don't see them or respond to them.  And for us the living, sometimes this can be very hard.  Because keep in mind, helping them into the light, going to heaven, crossing over whatever you want to call it, is what we need to do..... being STUCK is not where you want your loves.  So as hard as it may be, we must let them know what happened and that they have died and need to move on.  I know if I lost my grandparents in a natural disaster and didn't get to say "Bye" or tell them "I loved them" it would be hard for me.....but here's the thing......keeping them HERE with US is a little on the selfish side.  Sorry, but that's they way I feel.  Keeping them HERE is for US to feel better, NOT what is best for THEM.

You know me, I am going to put it in "Becky Terms".  It's like having a beautiful butterfly in a jar.  Man...it is soooo pretty to look at and it makes you smile every time you look at it......BUT is being in that jar REALLY what is best for the butterfly??? Or would it be better to let it go.....so that it could fly up into the sky roaming around where ever it likes? Anyway, you get the picture. :)

It is VERY sad when something like this happens, and make NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT.....my heart goes out to anyone who has ever had to deal with this, but it does cause a location to become more haunted or active.  So, if you are ghost hunting, a site where a natural disaster occurred is probably a good location to investigate.  And again, be respectful of the place you are investigating.

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TALK TO GHOSTS. WILL YOU DO IT FOR ME???

One of the things I hear people say when they are out on an investigation or tour with me is "I don't know how to talk to ghosts.  I don't know what to say."  Then the next thing I hear is "you do it"!  Ok.  First let me say, I totally understand that it is weird or makes you feel a "little crazy" talking out loud to someone you can not see or hear.  But I assure, you are NOT ALONE. (and I mean that in more than ONE way. LOL)

I don't mind AT ALL when people ask me to do the talking.  See, when you have been talking to the dead for 30 plus years.....it's no big deal.  LOL  But for someone just starting out.....it is!!! So here are some easy questions just to get you going and we've all heard them on TV but some of the questions have to be asked over and over to get the answers we are looking for.  I know they sound repetitive, because they are......but each location is different so at each location it's kinda like starting over again.
1.  Does anyone want to talk with me?
2.  How old are you?
3.  What happened to you?
4.  Are there more than one spirits here?
5.  Can you show yourself?
6.  Are you a male or female?
7.  Are you a child?
8.  If you were killed by someone else, do you know who that person is?
9.  What year did you die?
10.  Do you know the current year now?

That is just a few simple questions you can ask to try and put together a profile of the spirit or spirits you are communicating with.  And listen....don't be afraid to ask any questions.  Anything you want to know....just ask. :)

On my last tour, one of the guest on the tour was my niece, CaLisa and she ask me a really good question....."Aunt Becky(because I'm Aunt Becky to her...not crazy ghost lady.LOL) What if you are wanting  to talk to a particular spirit?  How can you know if that particular spirit can hear you and someone else doesn't come through?  Good question CaLisa!!!  One thing I will CAUTION you about.....if you go into a location and say " Is ANYONE here who wants to talk to me(question #1 above)..... be sure that you are willing to talk to ANYONE that will come through.  Here's the problem with that.  ANYONE could mean, lets say the victim or the KILLER!!!  I try to do my research on a location first, because I want to KNOW the spirits I am talking to.  But back to CaLisa's question.  Here's how I tired to explain it to her...  Let's say Calisa.......you and I went to a concert and the band was playing really loud.....I am on one side of the stage and you are on another.  (just like spirits are on ONE SIDE and WE ARE on another).  I see YOU on the other side and I want to get just YOUR attention....so I start yelling(now I don't mean start YELLING for spirits...literally. LOL) I start yelling CALISA.....CALISA....trying to get JUST your attention....but in the process other people turn around when they hear me.  But I keep yelling CALISA in hopes I will get your attention.   Finally...you hear me and come over.   Same thing with spirits.  If you want to talk to a particular spirit, call for them and THEM only.  Now, that's not to say you may not get a couple of spirits that want to "but in" but after a bit the spirit you are trying to communicate with should come through for you.

So don't be afraid to give it a try.  They(spirit's) don't care what your asking them, their just glad your talking to them. :)  One more thing.......DON'T forget your protection prayers before and after trying to communicate with a spirit.  This is a VERY important detail!!!  Now, get out there......and ask your questions!!!!
