About Me

My photo
Behind Every Cloud is a Kindred Spirit (BECKS)I lost my grandfather when I was 17. I had a VERY difficult time getting over it. How could I still communicate with him? I loved him so much I didn't think I could live without him. I read everything I could get my hands on to do with the "afterlife" and that started it all...the love of Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal. I have been researching the paranormal for over 37 years!! It is my way of staying in touch with my grandfather. Being a Ghost Hunter is not always as exciting as it seems on TV. Many nights I have sat in the dark and not a thing happened. BUT it is those times you DO get that one voice, that one explainable picture or have an experience that sends chills down your back that makes it sooo worth it all!!! My purpose of this blog is not to make people believe in ghosts but maybe to open their minds just a little bit... I LOVE this crazy thing called Ghost Hunting. It is as much a part of me as breathing. I am just a girl that refuses to accept we can't still contact our loved ones after they die. My grandfather won't let me.

EVP's from the VERY HAUNTED Goatman's Bridge featured on Ghost Adventure...

Electronic Voice Phenomena-EVP's that's what we say here in the paranormal world but you guys already knew that. :)  One of the MOST exciting developments in the field of the paranormal is the use of technology to capture unexplained human voices or sounds.  That's what we LOVE right???  A voice that is answering our questions or saying something that we KNOW we didn't make.

EVP's were first discovered quite by accident by Friedrich Jurgenson as he was recording bird calls near his home in Sweden during the 1950's.  He was flabbergasted when he heard a man's voice telling him how to better record the bird songs.  Totally intrigued, Jurgenson continued his recordings for many years after that and subsequently published a book, Voices From the Universe, that described his method of electronic communication with the dead.

Some claim the discovery of the EVP goes MUCH further back than that.  Thomas Edison, the inventor of the telephone, was quoted in Scientific American in the 1920's as saying: "Nobody knows whether our personalities pass on to another existence or sphere, but it is possible to construct an apparatus which will be so delicate that if there are personalities in another existence or sphere, this apparatus will at least give them a better opportunity to express themselves than the tilting tables and raps and Ouija boards and mediums and the other crude methods now purported to be the only means of communication."

Anyone can try to capture an EVP.  It can be done with either analog or digital recorders, though the analog or digital recorders, though the analog method will probably be phased out very shortly because of the superior quality of digital voice recorders and the ease of transferring files to a computer.  Some investigators recommend performing the experiments outside your own home; after all, if something disturbing is discovered it may upset you and change how you feel about your personal living space.

So, how do we record an EVP....

1.  Make sure your equipment is working properly.
2.  Tune an AM or FM radio to the space between channels to generate white noise.  Running water and computer programs that generate background noise will also work.
3.  State the date, time, your name, and where you are at the beginning of your recording.
4.  Ask a question, and wait about 30 secs for a response.  Understanding that it takes a lot of energy to be heard.  Don't rush.
5.  Be polite.  There is no need to provoke any entity.
6.  Transfer your recording onto your computer.  Different audio programs can help clean up the EVP.  I use Audacity.

Just a quick note...I always CLOSE the session by saying "thank you for the communication with me tonight but as of this moment ALL communication is closed".

I LOVE EVP's!!!!  They are hard work but they are worth it!!!!!!!

Above are a few EVP's that I have gotten out at the bridge that I give tours at.  See what you think!!!

THE SORREL WEED HOUSE-TRULEY HAUNTED!!!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!  Halloween is on its way!!!!!!!!!!!  I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I will be posting a Halloween Contest tomorrow on my blog, so get ready and WIN!!!!  Thank goodness October doesn't last any longer than 31 days because I have NO SELF CONTROL during this month!  Every time I go to the store I buy something or should I say.................LOTS of things with GHOST on it. LOL  My office is decorated in ghosts so this is the time of year I load up on ghosts!  I can get ghosts that don't have pumpkins and witches on them, that can be displayed all year round.  I have real problems.....don't I???????? LOL

Ok......back to this weeks blog. Check out the Sorrel Weed House.  I have not been here personally, but again....on my "to do" list.

This home has been deemed as the single largest home in all of Savannah. This particular house has been shown and profiled on a number of television programs and channels due to the fact that it is claimed that it is haunted. These include Ghost Hunters, the ever popular Today Show, and others. Here, you will learn about this haunted house in Savannah, Georgia.

The Hauntings
There are a number of hauntings that are said to occur at the Sorrel Weed House. The following represents some of the haunted tales of individuals who have been subjected to the spirits:

• There is a room that is in the basement of the structure. Originally, this served as an office for the individual who lives in the structure by the name of “Steve”. He spent approximately three months in the office. Unfortunately, he was not at ease when he was in the room. It was later discovered that the same area once housed slaves who worked in it. At that time, it was actually a kitchen for the slaves. Eventually, it was deemed appropriate to turn it into a type of “Voodoo Room” for the sake of the tourists who came to the home. Many of the visitors have claimed that they feel almost sick when they enter the room, and have had to leave. There are a number of people who claim that they feel a strong physical presence in the room as well.

Pretty cool photo.
On many different nights, this same individual, Steve, who lives upstairs, has heard the sound of a party or some type of social gathering occurring downstairs. He has heard people talking, laughing, and music. When he eases down the stairs in an effort to see what is going on, everything suddenly stops. This is a very haunting and chilling experience
Do you see anything?
• Noises that sound like a war, with a marching band and all are heard. There was once a war in the Savannah area and it is believed that this is a residual haunting and replays itself over and over again.  (Please note that the photos are not mine)

HAUNTED MCPIKE MANSION EVP'S

I'm not going to write a lot about the McPike Mansion because last week I wrote a book!!!LOL  Below are some of the EVP's we collected in the cellar of the mansion.  These are not the BEST EVP's I have ever gotten but they are good.  One of my recorders messed up so I could not get all my EVP's downloaded.  The ones in the video are a little hard to hear so you may want to use external speakers or a headset to listen to them.

Like I said last week, McPike Mansion did not disappoint me in any way!!!  Voices, cold spots, touching, footsteps and tons more.  If you are ever up in Alton, Illinois be sure and check it out. Alton is a wonderful haunted town!  There are soooo many things to do here related to the paranormal I can't wait to go back and get into something else. lol

Enjoy the video....

Also, get ready!  I am working on Ghost Hunters Bloopers!!!!  And yes....yours truly is in some of them.
