White Otter Castle

The legend of the White Otter Castle begins with Jimmy McOuat of Sunset Country, Ontario. The three story log cabin was single-handedly built over many years by the eccentric McOuat, and is located on the shores of White Otter Lake in such a remote location that is can only be accessed by snow mobile, plane or boat.
McOuat intended the home to be a dowry for his future bride that he was yet to meet in person, but he tragically died in the fall of 1918 while fishing. His body, tangled in fishing nets, was not discovered until the following spring. His grave is next to the log castle and his ghost is said to still wander the property.

 

The Corbin Cabin

This small log home was constructed in the early 1900s by George T. Corbin in the Nicholson Hollow area of what is now Shenandoah National Park. His wife, Nee Corbin, died in the cabin giving birth to their third child in 1924. It was a winter day when George had to bury his wife in the family cemetery near the cabin, then walk four miles to the nearest store to buy milk for his newborn baby.
Today, the Corbin Cabin is one of a handful of structures that the PATC rents to hikers within the park. It’s the only PATC cabin that’s on the National Register of Historic Places, and as far as we can tell, it’s the only PATC cabin that’s haunted by a ghost. Hikers say the ghost of Nee Corbin still resides in the sparse cabin, walking on the hard plank floors and wandering the woods near her old home.

Log Cabin Village - The Foster Cabin
The Foster Cabin in Log Cabin Village is located in Forth Worth, Texas, and is one of 6 log houses built in the 1800s. Log Cabin Village offers a glimpse of the past, and claims to host a ghost in one of the houses. According to stories, the Foster Cabin was home to Harry Foster and his family in the 1800s.
After the death of his wife, Foster married the nanny, Jane Holt. Holt was rumored to have worn lilac perfume. Sometimes when visitors tour the house, footsteps are heard from the attic above the second floor. Visitors have also reported the scent of lilacs in the air.

Lucy at Roaring Fork

“Lucy” is the spirit of a young woman known to haunt the Roaring Fork Trail looking for a ride. Roaring Fork is a 5.5-mile-long, one-way loop in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park scattered with original homes and farms of early settlers. In 1910, a young man named Foster came upon Lucy in the mountains and offered her a ride on his horse.
He found her to be unusually “warm” that cold night, and he quickly fell in love with her. He went looking for her again the next day, but learned from her parents that Lucy had died in a cabin fire one year earlier. Today, visitors traveling up Roaring Fork have reported seeing a pretty, young woman standing on the side of the road without shoes, still looking for a ride.

The Bell Witch Cabin

The Bell Witch incident is one of the most well-known hauntings in the United States. It’s frequently stated that it’s the only known incident of a ghost legally being responsible for the death of a person, the patriarch of the Bell family, John Bell Sr. It was in 1817 that Bell was walking through a field on his plantation and spotted a bizarre looking critter sitting, staring down a corn row.
Bell said it had the head of a rabbit and the body of a dog, and he took several pot shots at it with his rifle. It escaped unharmed and he went on home, unfazed and not thinking any more about it. Till later that night, after dinner as the family sat around the fire-lit cabin, they began hearing banging on the walls from the outside. As the nights went on, the pounding grew more vicious and the family grew scared.

Sorry, I am posting a couple days late!  But I wanted to put together this fun little video and I am no "techie" person so I had to overcome my lack of skills in putting together a video.  Man you guys that knock-out video's daily....KUDOS!!!
 

First I want you guys to know that this is one of the "funnest" blogs I have ever done.  As we all know.... being a ghost hunter can sometimes go smoothly and sometimes.......well.... it has it's OWN America's Funniest Video's. I can hardly write this because I can't help but keep laughing!!!  Later you will understand why.  I want to tell you about my recent visit to see my brother Junior and his family (Hi Kesha, Sid and Savanna) who lives in Arkansas.  I had so much fun but................I also got some of the BEST EVPS I have EVER HEARD!!!!!  You just won't believe these EVPS!!!!  I also, realize that some of you won't believe them, and that's ok, but I can PROMISE you....they are AUTHENTIC!!!!  I have listen to millions of EVPS over the last 35 years and it is rare when I come across the kind of evidence that makes me STOP and say........NO WAY.  ABSOUTELY NO WAY!!!!  Ok...sometimes I might even say WHAT THE H*LL but these EVPS were EVEN hard for ME to believe!!!!  Now there are a couple that are a little hard to hear so you may want to turn up your speakers.

OK, here we go.  I talked my brother Junior, a couple of his friends and my Dad into taking me to two old cemeteries.  I want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to my Dad, Butch, Jr. and the one and only........ Rick!! Sorry, got to get the shout outs in. lol    After begging and pleading and pleading and begging (lol) for them to go on a ghost hunt with me they finally agreed!!!  They may have just agreed so I would SHUT UP!!!  Works every time! :)  I will tell you.........Jr was fine with it but HIS FRIENDS.......NOT SO MUCH!!!!!  And I think my Dad only went...........well............just because he loves me!!! LOL  Thanks Dad. :)

 

The cemetery I want to tell you about is called Lane Cemetery.  This cemetery was once the Lane Family Cemetery located on Butch's land. Now it sits all alone and abandon. It is said that there are about 10-15 people buried in this cemetery, who once had field rocks as their stones but one of the land owners threw them away to use the field for planting.  Butch himself has tried to mark some of the graves with stakes.  Butch did say he believed the story that a former land owner did move the rocks used as headstones to plow up the ground for farmland.  He also believes there are more like 20-30 graves, many unmarked.  Let me say that sometimes......the places that are less visited are sometimes the MOST active because....well think about it...... no one wants to be alone!  And for some reason, this cemetery just  makes you feel welcome. Almost like the spirits there CAN'T WAIT to talk with you. :)

 

The cemetery sets up on the side of a hill and unless you know it is there.....you'll drive right by it and never see one of the MOST fascinating cemeteries I have ever visited!!!  Like the old saying "the packaging isn't much to look at, but it what's inside that matters!"

 

It is VERY overgrown with several large trees and a small fence around an area right in the middle.  Along the back, there is a fence with nothing but brush, briers, and tall weeds under a cluster of trees.  And at night........PITCH BLACK!!!! It totally has the CREEP factor going on!!!

We sat up around the little fenced in area.  And what we thought was going to be a very bright night because of the moon, turned out to be extremely dark!  We sat up our equipment and sat up our chairs with our backs to the woods.  We were just starting to get a little correspondence through our parascope and 360.  Both devices light up when a spirit is near and makes it very easy to communicate with spirits.

 

BECAUSE I love you guys...I'm going to let you hear the GREAT parts of an investigation and well......lets just say......the unpredictable parts!!!! Yes...it will be at my expense!! :)

 

 

 

TWO ORBS PLAYING ON VIDEO- OH WAIT.....IS THERE SUCH A THING AS "ORBS"???

                                   

DID YOU SEE THAT????  Over there.......a white ball light just shot across the room!!!!  Orbs.  Little balls of light.......one of the most controversial subjects in the paranormal field.  Orbs are considered to be "balls of energy".  Energy of spirits of the once living.  They are usually round and white or translucent in color.  These anomalies are often captured in photos and on video.

 

Many paranormal investigators will not even consider "orbs" as part of their evidence.  I do believe you have to be careful when you analyze your evidence and conclude that you have captured an orb.  Many times it can be dust, moisture or bugs especially if you are outdoors or in a location that may have broken windows and doors.  These can easily mistaken for "orbs".

 

One of the most asked questions I get is "do ghost only come out at night"?  The answer is no.  The same with orbs.  They are always around us but it is just easier to see light anomalies at night when it's dark.  It's like laying a piece of cotton  on a white piece of paper and laying another piece of cotton on a black piece of paper.....which one can you see better? (That's just MY way to explain it. LOL) 

 

Ok...you guys know me...I'm going to give you my option....my not be "politically correct" in paranormal world but then again....I don't write "politically correct".  LOL    Ok.....here's the thing with orbs.  Yes, they can easily be mistaken for dust, moisture or bugs but lets think about this.  In the paranormal world we believe we can talk and communicate with dead people!!!  We believe we can see apparitions....... and what are apparitions.......white, transparent figures.......and what are they doing......floating through a room.  So, if we can see these and believe they exists....then why can't we believe we see orbs????  Just saying.  To me, they are just another form of apparitions. 

 

Now, take a look at the video below.  It was taken with a night camera that mounts outdoors.  Hunters use them to take pictures and video of wild animals.  A guy I work with was actually showing me video of deer he caught on his property but I noticed something else that peaked my interest.  It looks like two orbs following one another.  You will notice that it DOESN'T look like bugs or dust because if it were dust there would be many more dust particles flying around and if it was bugs, I don't believe they would be flying around in a straight line.

 

For whatever reason, when I see this video....I think of two young kids playing chase.  It is really weird, but I feel very peaceful when I watch this.  What do you think?  Two spirits at play or just dust???  Now, here's a little bit of information I think you will find interesting. There is an abandon cemetery out to the right of the video.  And there is a single grave all alone toward the left corner of the video where the orbs go off screen.  Not that it matters.....just an interesting fact.  My co-worker, who's name is Jeff Knight, doesn't know anything about the cemetery.  He said it is just out in the woods and the graves are very old.  We are going to try and find out what we can.  Hopefully, I will have an update on it soon.

HAUNTED WOODS....WHY ARE THEY SOOOOOO DARN CREEPY!!!!!!!

Your hearting is beating sooooo fast you can hardly breath.....but you keep putting one foot in front of the other and go deeper and deeper into the darkness of the woods.  As you walk slowly through the woods it seems almost as if the trees have arms and are reaching for you......the sounds around you get LOUDER and LOUDER....the air becomes "different" and you notice there is not even a slight breeze.....something DARTS in front of you.....you turn....point your flashlight and there is ..........is  NOTHING!!!!  Now fear sets in......what if I get lost.............what if something attacks me out here............what if I get hurt and no one can find in time.........WHAT IF..........WHAT IF..........WHAT IF............. you can DRIVE yourself CRAZY with WHAT IF'S!!!!

Why do the WOODS seem soooo much scarier than an old abandon house or cemetery?  Is it the possibilities are much GREATER of the UNKNOWN? The truth is....the woods hold no more danger than any other location.  There is always things for you to be aware of at ANY location.  Just like any other location, a spirit can be attached for many different reasons.  ANYWHERE there is GREAT EMOTION more than likely, you find some kind of a haunting. 

I recently investigated a private residence that I believe had someone watching over the land because back in the day......when THIS PERSON was alive and living on the beautiful piece of property (horse ranch) every night they would have to stand watch because the threat of an Indian attack.  Farmers and ranchers could not leave their ranches even to go help their neighbors that might need help because IF they left their post, Indians would attack.   So, part of this haunting, I believe was because the previous land owner loved his land and wanted to protect it.........EVEN IN THE AFTER LIFE.

I want to share with you all about the WOODS that we go through every end of the month when I do my tours.  Now granted, the woods surrounding the Old Alton Bridge are not super thick.....but they DO hold many spirits!

The woods surrounding the Bridge are said to be haunted by the KKK and several other spirits that where associated with the surrounds at one time or another.  The picture below was taken by one of our team members, John Martin, out at the bridge.  We believe it could be the lady we call LaLorna that wanders the woods looking for her young child that drown in the creek.

Another report of paranormal activity surrounding the woods are that MANY TIMES you can see "glowing lights" dancing around in the woods.  These lights are reported to be the lanterns of the KKK as they make their way through the woods waiting on unsuspecting victims as they walk through the dark woods.  I can tell you, that this is a COMMON occurrence on our tours.
