About Me

My photo
Behind Every Cloud is a Kindred Spirit (BECKS)I lost my grandfather when I was 17. I had a VERY difficult time getting over it. How could I still communicate with him? I loved him so much I didn't think I could live without him. I read everything I could get my hands on to do with the "afterlife" and that started it all...the love of Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal. I have been researching the paranormal for over 37 years!! It is my way of staying in touch with my grandfather. Being a Ghost Hunter is not always as exciting as it seems on TV. Many nights I have sat in the dark and not a thing happened. BUT it is those times you DO get that one voice, that one explainable picture or have an experience that sends chills down your back that makes it sooo worth it all!!! My purpose of this blog is not to make people believe in ghosts but maybe to open their minds just a little bit... I LOVE this crazy thing called Ghost Hunting. It is as much a part of me as breathing. I am just a girl that refuses to accept we can't still contact our loved ones after they die. My grandfather won't let me.

HILL HOUSE EVP'S VIDEO-MARCH 14, 2014-(REPLACING PREVIOUS POSTED VIDEO)

Sorry for the problem with the previous video.  Let me know if you guys can see this one?

HILL HOUSE MANOR-GAINESVILLE,TX-OUR INVESTIGATION

So, if you haven't heard of the haunted Hill House Manor in Gainesville, Tx let me tell you a little about it....The house is located in Gainesville, Tx just off one of the main streets on the square.  It has been there since 1883.  Gainesville has a dark past. I guess it is best known for The Great hangings of 1862.  In the Hill House, it has been reported that a spirit of a little boy and girl are there, along with a man and woman who know ones knows who they are.  It has also been reported that there is a "ghostly cat"....YES I said CAT....that roams the house.  Paranormal groups have reported to have been touched, orbs and shadows are seen, along with a mist or fog.  I have heard some GREAT EVP's from here, but now I have a few of my own to share with you guys.

Linda Hill acquired this house along with several others in May of 2004.  They have named it Hill House Manor because they have no idea who built it or owned it over the years so they chose to use the last name of  the current owners.   The house was a triplex when they bought it.  Two of the units were livable; one was and continues to be used for storage.  For over 3 years they rented out the units on a 12 month lease basis.  Not one tenant stayed for the full 12 months.  The downstairs unit has not had a tenant stay for 6 months.  The upstairs unit has not had a tenant stay 2 months.
It was a loooonnnnggg night for us investigating!  We got there at 7:00pm and left at 6:00am in the morning.  The house itself, for me, did not give off like a super creepy feeling.  I do think spirits were there, but nothing evil or bad that I picked up on.  Now through the course of the night we had several personal experiences.  Right off the bat....we sat up in what Linda refers to the "window" room where supposedly a young boy and girl play.  You know me, I LOVE animals...so I brought a cute, little furry mouse to use as a trigger object for the "ghost cat".  It is very sensitive, so at any sign of touch it would squeak.  As we were sitting in the floor about to start an EVP session....all of the sudden the mouse starts going off!  It was squeaking all by itself.  We all saw it.  That happened several times through the night.

Then we had set up our motion detector or shadow detector with a "grid"(a little light that shines dots all over the room so that you can easily see someone pass through)in the hallway upstairs.  As we were in one room conducting our investigation, the "shadow detector" starts going off.  So I went to the hallway and started asking if someone was there, could they walk back and forth in front of me so that the shadow detector would go off....and guess what????? IT DID!!!  Then, in another room, the murder room(so it's called)one of our investigators starts crying.  She had no explanation for this, just that tears started rolling down her face.  She said she had a overwhelming feeling of sadness.  One of the EVP's we caught has a young female voice responding to our investigator by saying "don't cry".

We also used the dowsing rods and was getting a lot of communication that way along with flashlight communication.  At one point, I had even recorded some music resembling that in which would have been played in the early and late 1800's and well......just wait and listen to the EVP's to see what that produced!!!

What can I say about the Hill House Manor?  Well, I really enjoyed it and hope to make another trip back soon, but did we get over whelming evidence.......not so much this trip.  BUT.....the things that we did capture on video and audio along with our own personal experiences.......I think are pretty amazing .  You guys check out some of our evidence and let me know what you think.   Below is a clip with a few good EVP's.  PLEASE NOTE*** One of the EVP's is a BAD word in it, so please be aware of this before viewing the video.

Also, if you haven't already, check out the other video on the Haunted Hill House Manor on YouTube.

Below are just a few of the pics we took where we were getting some activity.

WHAT DO "SCENTS" HAVE TO DO WITH GHOST HUNTING?

Your sitting in your favorite comfy chair....curled up with your favorite blanket and book when all the sudden you smell cigar smoke! Where in the heck is that coming from???? I'm not smoking and there is no one here with me.....hhhhuuummmm That smells just like the cigar that my husband used to smoke......but that can't be possible because he's been dead over 10 years!

This is the nature of a certain type of activity commonly referred to as a perfume ghost.  Even though the term has the word perfume in it, the actual smell does not have to be that of a ladies perfume (though sometimes it is). It refers more to a particular smell that is thought to be caused by a specific ghostly presence.

While those cases are thought to be caused by a specific ghost there is also a phenomena that does carry a distinction and would not be labeled a perfume ghost. The difference is that these smells appear to have more to do with being types of residual imprints left in the area at some time in the locations past. No actual 'ghost' is associated with these smells though an incident in the locations past may be the culprit.

What does that all that really mean? Simple.  Sometimes, spirits KNOW that you might associate a certain smell with them.  Let's say that your grandmother used to wear everyday a perfume that smelt like roses.  I believe that spirits KNOW when we need them.... long before WE know we need them.  Maybe you are sitting on the couch watching TV but are worried about something.  Maybe your loved ones can't "show" themselves to you as they used to, so they try another way to let you know they are there.....by scents.  As you sit there watching tv..... SUDDENLY.... without warning you SMELL roses!!! And after you realize there are no "roses" in the house, you suddenly have a flashback of your grandmother walking in the room and giving you a kiss and how she smelt of roses.  Now.....I'm going to bet that at least for the next few minutes....you forgot your troubles and had a smile on your face remembering your grandmother. This was her way of saying she was still there for you.   On a personal note, I talk a lot about my grandfather, but let me tell you.......my GRANDMOTHER was just as amazing as my NAN.  Now, I wouldn't say my grandmother was the "sweet ol' lady type" she was more the "grouchy ol' lady type" LOL (sorry Nanny) but I loved her dearly and she had the heart the size of Dallas.  As I write this, I can hear my grandmothers laugh. (maybe she's not mad at me for that comment.)  For some reason I LOVED IT when my grandmother would laugh!!!  I can remember her having the BEST smile when she laughed!!! And the one smell that I think I would associate with her would be DOVE soap.   The old type that was just plain white DOVE soap.  She ALWAYS bathed with Dove soap.

And then again, some smells are just like the residual haunting.....it is an imprint on a location.  Like, you are investigating an old hotel and people say they smell tobacco pipe.  Does that mean there is a spirit present that used to smoke a pipe trying to make themselves known?  Not necessarily.  It could  just be a residual smell from the room where lots of gentlemen used to smoke. Not necessarily that a ghost is trying to communicate.

No doubt, sometimes, determining if the smell is JUST an imprint on a room or if is it someone actually trying to make their presence known can be tricky.  Helpful hint**  If you are going to be doing an investigation, DO NOT wear perfume, hairspray, or bathe in scented bath soaps.  This way, when you are on location, any scents you smell, hopefully you can make a determination to whether they are residual or a spirit trying to make themselves known.

Happy hunting everybody!!!!! :)

THE HAUNTED CONGRESS HOTEL IN CHICAGO-SEE WHAT I FOUND!

The beautiful Ball Room

If you have not stayed at the Congress Hotel in Chicago....you should!!!  It is reportedly the most haunted hotel in the city.  I was lucky enough to get a room at this hotel to do an investigation as a Christmas Present from my boyfriend and I loved every minute of it!!!  I was also lucky enough to have one of my FAVORITE paranormal groups White Dog Paranormal to meet me there.  We had a great time!

Ok....I know, you guys don't care about all that....you just want to know if we saw any GHOSTS!!!
First here is a little bit about this wonderful place.  It was built to help house visitors of the World Fair in 1893.  It was also owned at one point by the one and only Al Capone.  Supposedly the most haunted floors are the 4th and the 12th(I stayed on the 12th).  Some of the spirits roaming this place is none other than Al himself along with a mother and two sons, whom supposedly was waiting for the arrival of her husband and when she found out he wasn't coming, she through her two boys over the 12th floor balcony and then jumped herself.  Then there's Peg Leg Johnny, a hobo that was murdered in the hotel.  And the MOST HAUNTED ROOM OF ALL #441.  YES, I did request to stay in that room but was told the whole 4th floor was closed!  Of course, we had to go check it out ourselves and found that the 4th floor was completely dark!  Did we leave......of course not!!!  We just sat down in the floor, in the dark and started conducting an EVP Session.
The very top of the creepy stairwell

When you start asking questions about the spirits that haunt the hotel you will find out quickly that some of the people DON'T want to talk about it, but a couple of the bell hops were willing to share their stories.  We were lucky enough to meet Johnny the late night security guard who has worked at the Congress for about 18 years.  At first, he wasn't willing to talk, but he couldn't resist my Texas accent!!! LOL  He eventually warmed up to us and took us on a tour all around the hotel and to places we normally wouldn't have access to.  THANK YOU JOHNNY!!!!  He told us story after story of paranormal activity.  Even as recent as the week before we were there, of people leaving their rooms claiming things were moving, they were touched, etc.

After we left Johnny, we investigated on our own.  Yep...you guessed it, we went places not many people could or WOULD not go.  We had a lot of activity in a little stairwell we found behind an unmarked door.  Be sure and watch the video I am posting of that session.   You DON'T want to miss it!!!

WHAT TYPE OF GHOST WILL YOU BE??? TAKE THE TEST AND FIND OUT!!!

This is soooooo fun I just had to share it with all my followers!!!  Take this quick test to see what type of ghost you will be.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/katieheaney/what-type-of-ghost-will-you-be

I'm going to be an Orb!  So, when I die....please don't think I'm dust!!! LOL

You got: Orb

You’ll be carefree and easygoing, content to just float around wherever saying nothing. “Cool, man!” you’ll think to yourself as you waft over a lake. “Neat,” you’ll think as you’re captured by a human’s picture of another human standing in a dark forest at night. Most people who see you in print think you are dust, and for the most part you don’t let this get to you, but sometimes you can’t help

Be sure and leave a comment with what kind of ghost you will be!  Have fun.... :)

IT'S ALL ABOUT LOCATION....LOCATION....LOCATION.

So, now you have decided that you want to go on a real ghost hunt.  You pick your location...because you have researched and researched on the internet to find just the right spot!

You pick your date to go..... and the perfect time at night, you get your group of friends or team together and you jump in the car....and away you go!!!!!  Right???................WRONG!!!!

Ghost hunting is know different from anything else.  You have to have safety guidelines to follow.  You don't want anyone getting hurt during an investigation.  It can be very dangerous if not done properly.

So lets go over a couple of safety tips before you do an investigation.

1.  ALWAYS check out the location in the daytime and preferably the day OF the investigation so that you see exactly what objects are in the area.  If it is an outdoor location, check for unlevel  ground and holes, places where people might trip or fall.  Objects that  people could run in to.....fences...large tree branches, etc.  This is very import.  And let me give you a word of advice..... if you are investigating in old cemeteries  you need to walk around carefully and if possible mark "soft spots" in the ground or places that seem to "sink in" in front of headstones.  The reason for this is back a long time ago, coffins were made of wood and you know what happens to wood when you put it in the ground for a long period of time.....that's right......it rots!!!  And let me tell you from experience..............if you think running into a ghost is bad.....just wait until you step on top of a grave and it caves in with your leg going straight through the coffin....................let me tell you......that old saying "fast as lightening" That ain't nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you are doing an investigation inside, still take a good look around for things that could possibly be hazardous to you or your team members.  See an example below.

HOW GOOD ARE YOU???  In the pictures below, let's say you are going to do an investigation at this location, what potential hazards do you see?  No peeking.....I have posted just a FEW I see at the end of this page.

DSCN0056 (2)
Can you find more than me?
I found at least 10
Bonus Points if you find the Orb!

I found at least 7
I found at least 7
I found at least 5

2.  Never go alone!  Actually this should be #1 but I am to lazy to go back and delete and paste and re-paste this tip ….lol   But really, never go alone.  This way if something happens…you fall, trip or hurt yourself in someway, you will have someone there to help you or can call for help.  (and in the case of craving in a grave with your leg........someone to chase you down while your running and yell "hey....you forgot your shoe!!!!" LOL

3. Make sure you have an alternative light source.  Say your batteries are drained and you run out of extra batteries, make sure you have either a lighter or candles, or both. Preferably a Bic lighter, that way if you drop it, it won’t start a fire(hopefully). Glow sticks are an excellent source of light.  Always have a "backup plan" for lighting.

4.  Something that people don’t always think of (myself included, I know you thought I was perfect…but no..lol) tell someone who ISN’T going on the investigation with you, where you will be and if possible, about what time you will return.  Ok.... this is for obvious reasons....like a ghost gets you!!! LOL

5.  And last, make sure you have a first aid kit available for small “boo boo's".
Ok.  That is more than a couple of tips but I wanted you guys to be safe out there.  Also, bring water if you are going to be out for long periods of time......well, you may get thirsty....who knows? :)

OK...below are the pictures from above that I have pointed out some potential hazardous objects.  How well did you do????

On a quick note....stay tuned for my posting on the Haunted Congress Hotel in Chicago.  I just got back yesterday and will be going through the evidence.  I think you will find it VERY interesting!
