HAUNTED OLD ALTON BRIDGE GHOST TOUR A SUCCESS!!!!

So, we had our first Old Alton Bridge tour this past weekend and it was a blast!!!  Just wanted to share some of the pics from the tour with you guys.  I hope to post some of our Spirit Box session soon.  It was GREAT!!!!

THE BOOGIE MAN-GHOST AND CHILDREN



"If you don't go to sleep.... the BOOGIE MAN will get you"!  "Don't look under your bed....or the monsters will grab you"!  "Hope when you turn off the lights...the GHOSTS don't come and take you away"!  We have all heard these sort of comments growing up as children.  Either our family or friends at one time or another has "planted that seed" of something evil or bad is going to get you, right?  I know I did!
From then on, we start to "analyze" things that are or will happen to us IF this happens... Cause and result, right?



It is sometimes believed that ghost or spirits will interact more with children than adults.  There is a reason for that.  Lets think about this.....Children are very open to anything. They believe anything is possible. So their mind set is easy.....ACCEPTANCE. They SEE what they SEE and they HEAR what they HEAR.....period.  They haven't learned or been taught to "rationalize" or "analyze" things yet.  I believe that contributes to being able to experience paranormal events.  We as adults, do this all the time.  For example....in the middle of the night...the closet door opens all by itself.  What is the FIRST thing we do???  We try to explain or rationalize what just happened.  The house is old, therefore the foundation is unlevel and that caused the door to open.  Or the a/c just came on and the door wasn't closed good and the air blew it open.  And we lay in bed coming up with 101 reasons why the closet door opened on its own.  Right?  Yes...you know I am. :)  We don't go....."Oh...the closet door opened by itself.....Uncle Joe must be saying "hi"  Ok.....now, lets go into the room of a young child and the same thing happens.  The child is laying in bed, not quite a sleep yet...and they see the closet door open.....what are they thinking...."WOW the closet door opened all by itself".  That's it.  THE CLOSET DOOR OPENED ALL BY ITSELF.  That's all.  They saw it, they accepted it, and now they go back to sleep while in the other room, their parents are STILL laying awake coming up with different reasons the door would open by itself. LOL  Another sleepless night....(as if parents don't already have enough of those as it is). So, the next time your child says they have an imaginary friend...don't be so eager to dismiss them.  LOL Just a thought...

Over time, children are taught that the things that they are seeing and hearing are just their imagine.
Now, if I were a ghost and wanted someone to know I was there....I'm going to the children's room where they believe what they see and NOT try to explain me away like "I'm the foundation of the house and it's just unlevel.....heck NO....It's me.... BECKY....the crazy girl that hunted ghosts!!!LOL  Children are wide open to every possibility. Everything is new and exciting to them. So they are more willing to believe in ghosts and therefore are more susceptible to receiving any images or messages from them.

Children are naturally more open minded than adults because they have not yet been exposed to things such as ghosts or what is fact or fiction.  Many children just may not realize that what they are seeing is actually a ghost or spirit.  To them a ghost may seem just as real and natural as interacting with the living.  Children have not yet been advised that what they are actually seeing is a ghost and that it is something very unexplainable, therefore their minds have not been trained to shut these things out or to ignore them because they are told it is only their imagination.  As children get older many begin to slowly lose the ability, typically between the ages of five and eleven years of age.  

Now, most of the time, not all of the time, a spirit just wants someone to know they are there....maybe they are lonely...who knows the reason, but usually it is not cause for concern.  And they are just trying to show themselves to the ones that will SEE or hear them.  Now, of course, if you feel your child is being threatened or physically abused or seeing a drastic change in their behavior then of course you may need to seek professional help. 

Now, that we have talked about Ghost and Children, I hope to post by the end of the week GHOST CHILDREN...which is different it's about children spirits....one of my favorite topics.  So, check back or watch for your notices and hear some of my favorite stories about ghost children.
 

UPDATE ON THE HAUNTED BARKER HOTEL

Thought I would share this with ya'll.....found it interesting since I just wrote about this Tuesday under Worlds Most Haunted Places II and I hadn't heard anything about the Barker since we went to a ghost conference about three weeks ago.

 

WORLDS MOST HAUNTED PLACES II

No doubt that every town, city or state has haunted places in them.  If you search long enough, you can find them just about everywhere!  But certain locations....whether they are haunted because of a tragic event.....battles...murders...whatever....some locations peak the interest of people more than others. 

Below I have list some of the most HAUNTED PLACES in the world.  These locations are ALL very haunted and sought after by the most experienced ghost hunters and the public for that matter.

The Lizzy Borden House, Boston, Mass.

    Everyone knows about this house!!!   The story of a young girl named, Lizzie Borden was accused of brutally hatching her step-mother and father to death in the house.  What made this crime even more disturbing...was Lizzie took the ax to their faces!!    Although she was tried and found innocent, others feel it was very CLEAR on who committed the murders.  Many say that that all three spirits remain tied to this house.  I have only drove by the house, which by today's standards seem very small and has been repainted and the outside remodeled just a little.  The day I went to take the tour it snowed so we couldn't go in.  Love to hear if you have been to Lizzie's house and what kind of experience you had?

     Handprints in the mirrors, footsteps on the stairs, mysterious smells, vanishing objects, death by poison, hangings, murder and gunfire -- the Myrtles Plantation in the West Feliciana town of St. Francisville, Louisiana holds the rather dubious record of hosting more ghostly phenomena than just about any other house in the country.  The story goes...Chloe, the vengeful slave who murdered the wife and two daughters of Clark Woodruff in a fit of jealously and anger.     I have not gone here YET...but definitely on my list!!!

    This Mansion is also in Louisiana.  It is in New Orleans and considered by many to be haunted by slaves that practiced voodoo back in 1830.  It is the treatment of the slaves who cleared the land, built the main house and store, and planted and harvested the fields that has left this historic mansion riddled with ghost stories and paranormal activity. Though some would say the slaves at Magnolia were treated humanely, lingering artifacts tell a different story. Leg stocks used for public punishment, humiliation and starvation still stand on the property. There are journal entries from Lecomte family members and foremen that describe hunting escaped slaves all the way to Texas.

I have not been here, but know people who have and say it is VERY HAUNTED!!! Be sure to check it out!


The Barker Hotel, Mineral Wells, Tx

    This hotel was built in 1929 because so many people were starting to come to Mineral Wells because of the water.The stories of ghosts and hauntings began in the Baker long before it ever closed. A porter who worked there during the 1950's and 1960's was the first known to witness the ghost of the woman on the seventh floor. She was possibly the mistress of the hotel manager. Distraught from her affair she jumped to her death from the top of the building. The year of the incident has not been verified but the room she stayed in, apparently quite comfortably, was a suite on the southeast corner of the seventh floor. Many have reported smelling her perfume and her spirit is said to be quite flirtatious with men she may fancy.

I recently went to a paranormal conference where a physic was talking about the Barker Hotel.  She had been there a couple of times and said she spoke with the spirit that was said to have jumped to her death.  This spirit wanted her(the physic) to let people know that she DID NOT jump to her death.  Someone else is responsible for it. 

I have contacted the Barker a couple of times trying to get in to do an investigation, but the City said it is to dangerous because of the condition of the building decaying. At the convention they also announced that developers where in the process of buying the building to refurbish it.  I think that would be great!  Have a beautiful building like the Barker and you KNOW with all the construction, it will make the activity there even better!  That is a little selfish on my part...but true. LOL  Nevertheless, this hotel has many spirits and I hope to get to visit it soon!

I always find a ghost everywhere I go! LOL

Ok....long story short of Annie Palmer.  Annie Palmer married John Rose Palmer in 1820 and lived in the 1770 Mansion that was built by John Rose Palmers Great Grandfather, John Palmer.  Little did John know that his young wife possessed “black magic” powers that would eventually lead to his demise. During her reign as mistress of the plantation, Annie did away with two more husbands and countless lovers. “The White Witch of Rose Hall” has fascinated generations, and even today, there are those who claim to see Annie passing through the Great House.  The Great House at one time sat on 650 acres of land mostly sugarcane fields and houses about 250 slaves.

 

Annie is also referred to as the "White Witch of Rose Hall" because she had countless affairs with her slaves and practiced "black magic" she learned from the slaves.  Unfortunately for Annie Palmer she took the promised husband of a slave's daughter to bed and killed him. With his daughter grief stricken, the slave who was also verse in black magic engaged and managed to kill Annie Palmer.

 

We had a private tour and was allowed to take pics but was told that they are no longer going to allow pictures of the outside or inside of the house.  They didn't give us a really good reason for that, but I feel lucky we got to. ssshhhh  No one is suppose to know that!

 

This place is beautiful!!!!  But is has a VERY DARK PAST and I think at night, this could be a really creepy place to visit.  Anyway, if you get the chance, check it out!!!!

MY REVIEW OF HEAVEN IS FOR REAL-WHY WOULD YOU DOUBT IT????

Now I normally wouldn't write about a movie but I just can't help myself.....I just saw Heaven is For Real and I thought it was amazing!!! Now, it is not full of action...no sex.....no suspense.....but this movie (for me) was very real and... very positive and I think we could ALL use a little more positive in our lives. It is about a little boy who has a near death experience and goes to heaven and comes back and tells what it is like. This movie is full of hope.... and for me.....it was VERY inspirational !!!! You will cry but when you live the movie theater you will feel alive and know that Heaven is real and all the good things God promised about it are true. And our loved ones.....they wait for us and we will all be together again. Now, I don't proclaim to be a so called "religious person" although I Do believe in God and pray and believe he is our creator. I also believe in Heaven and Hell. Whether you are "religious" or not...go see this movie...

Now, I don't want to get into religion, but after seeing this show, I even believe more....than our loved ones are watching over us and this gives me a very comforting feeling. And for those of you who know me....and know WHY I started researching the paranormal over 30 years ago ....I couldn't help but feel that my NAN(grandfather)was smiling down on me....and saying.....don't stop what you are doing......I am proud of you and know you are doing it with love in your heart.

Sorry, that was WAY long and way to on the serious side. Listen, for those of you I have talked to and are grieving...this movie might lift your spirits. Go see it....and I hope it makes you feel as good as it did me!

Just wanted to drop you guys a line and say I am so thankful to have each and everyone of you in my life!  Thank you for sharing your personal stories with me and I feel like I have made such good friends through the paranormal world.....and for .....that I wouldn't trade for anything!!!!  Now you guys go out and find some eggs!!!  And will someone save me a chocolate bunny????

YOU WON'T BELIEVE YOUR EYES! WHAT A GREAT PIC OF TWO APPARITIONS-BY KIM SPONSEL

I couldn't wait to share this photo that a Facebook follower of mine  took.  Her name is Kim Sponsel and she took this at a cemetery in Wichita Kansas.  I think this is a pretty impressive photo!  Nice job Kim.  :) She has written a short description about the photo.  The reason she had gone to this cemetery was because it was the day after Memorial Day and she thought it may be active because of all the decorating and remembrance observed the day before.  Is Kim on to something with her way of thinking??? We would love to hear your opinion on the photo, so leave us a comment or drop me an email at becksghosthunters@yahoo.com  Here's Kim's story:

This cemetery is in Wichita Kansas. I was out the Tuesday after memorial day at the cemetery investigating around midnight last year 2013. That night was very odd. The camera was not functioning properly. The pictures I did take I had orbs and alot of mist. The reason I went out the very next morning around 6 30 was this one picture I took showed a very strange object by a head stone. I had went back out during the day to see what was by that head stone. Needless to say it was a very odd plant. But that morning was very strange out there. There were black crows setting up in the tree's watching me but being very still. So I started taking more pictures. When I got home and I put my pictures on the computer. That's when I saw these 2 apparitions watching me. I just called them the keepers of the graves. They were by a mound of dirt that had been dug out for getting ready for another grave. I did not see them with a naked eye only the camera caught them.

CEMETERIES- "A GIRLS BEST FRIEND"

Dark, Creepy and full of dead people.......what else could a girl ask for??? Right? LOL  Ok...I guess that's not EVERY girls dream but for me....IT IS!!!!  I LOVE CEMETERIES!!!  As far back as I can remember, if you wanted a good scare...you headed to a cemetery.  With all the legends of ghosts, vampires, witches, monsters, demons....you name it......you can find them ALL in a cemetery?

Why is that??? Why are we so fascinated with death??? And why is it that when people die, then we still can't let them go....all of the sudden there are stories and legends of the people buried in the cemeteries!

Now, let's be honest, most spirits are tired to a place because of a tragic death, or a horrific event that they died suddenly.....these kinds of events DON'T happen in cemeteries, so WHY would spirits be so active in a cemetery?  Ghosts who haunt cemeteries seem to be a different "type" than you would find in a haunted house.  Now, I don't mean.... one rattles chains and one doesn't.  It seems that ghosts that haunt cemeteries are seeking eternal rest at the spot where their physical bodies lie.  We have all heard of spirits that have risen from the dead for one reason for another and continue to roam freely in the cemeteries....looking for what?........peace.....resolution.......in some cases.....revenge of another......who really knows.  The mystery remains as to WHY we immortalize death with stones and markers.  Is it REALLY for the dead.....of course..... it is out of respect to those who have lost their lives and to help those left behind heal.  But, then why do we continue to want to see them live on as a spirit?  I don't think there is really a solid answer to this question....just because.

One thing that intrigues me is PORTALS or DOORWAYS in cemeteries.  The theory behind this phenomena is that spirits can come and go in between worlds....what I call spirit world and the NOW world.  It has been said that there are portals or doorways all over the world where spirits can come and go as they wish.  But wouldn't you agree.....that a cemetery would be a great place for one?  So many spirits in one place that could come and go freely?  Far-fetched?  Maybe. But the spirits that have been seen, heard, photographed and reported in cemeteries may have something to them.  It has been suggested that portals are crossing points of sacred earth energy lines of temples, churches, stone circles and burial sites.  At this particular spot is where a portal or doorway maybe located.
                                                                                            
Here's the deal...whatever the reason.....and yes I do understand that there are some "ghost hunters" that would disagree with me a 100 % BUT......whatever the reason, I can honestly say, some of MY BEST experiences have been in a cemetery.  I do believe however, that of all the cemeteries I have visited ONLY one  do I truly believe to have found a PORTAL  or DOORWAY to the "other side".  Of course I'm going to tell you the name of it......DRY CREEK, in Terrell, Tx.  I'm not going into great detail about my experience there, you can read about it under the archives (left side of blog)session of my blog under 2013. 

Before I stop for the day I DO want to say one thing.........if you are in a cemetery.....roaming around....looking for the deep, dark secrets that it holds.....BE RESPECTFUL!!!!!  Regardless of the reason you are there....this is a place that our loved ones, strangers and even some "not so nice" folks call "home".  Act as if you are a guest in their home, would you please?  And don't forget your manners....please and thank you. :) And if you come to a conclusion that I need to know about......drop me a line at becksghosthunters@yahoo.com!  I LOVE hearing your stories.
