About Me

My photo
Behind Every Cloud is a Kindred Spirit (BECKS)I lost my grandfather when I was 17. I had a VERY difficult time getting over it. How could I still communicate with him? I loved him so much I didn't think I could live without him. I read everything I could get my hands on to do with the "afterlife" and that started it all...the love of Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal. I have been researching the paranormal for over 37 years!! It is my way of staying in touch with my grandfather. Being a Ghost Hunter is not always as exciting as it seems on TV. Many nights I have sat in the dark and not a thing happened. BUT it is those times you DO get that one voice, that one explainable picture or have an experience that sends chills down your back that makes it sooo worth it all!!! My purpose of this blog is not to make people believe in ghosts but maybe to open their minds just a little bit... I LOVE this crazy thing called Ghost Hunting. It is as much a part of me as breathing. I am just a girl that refuses to accept we can't still contact our loved ones after they die. My grandfather won't let me.

FROZEN IN TIME-THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS YOUNG WOMAN VOWING TO GET REVENGE!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Well, here we go again!!!  Another year to "make things happen"!  Do what you want to do......be who you want to be......love who you want to love.....start that diet for the 5th year in a row....but MOST OF ALL.......ghost hunt your butt off!!!! LOL

My new year is bringing sooooooo many NEW THINGS that I am soooooo excited about........a new radio show, a new book and hopefully many more investigations of unbelievable haunted places!!! So you guys hang on......it's going to be a FUN RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought I would post a short and sweet story today because.......well..........just because I liked it. lol
So here we go.........oh wait before I forget.....be sure and watch in the next couple of weeks for my posting on the VERY HAUNTED LEMP MANSION in Saint Louis.  I just got to do a quick visit there this past Monday and I'll tell you all about it as well as hopefully have some ghostly pictures to show you and if I'm lucky maybe even a couple of Class A EVP's!

Ok....back to my story.

Vivia Thomas was the daughter of a wealthy Boston businessman and attended the finest schools.  One day, at a social gathering, she met a handsome army officer.  After a whirlwind courtship, they got engaged.  Vivia was on cloud 9 about her engagement but soon her happiness would turn into a terrible tragedy.  Shortly, before her wedding, the young officer disappeared, only leaving a note to Vivia that said he was going out west in search of adventure.  What a loser!!!!(Sorry, personal feelings got in the way there)  Vivia was enraged and embarrassed by the sudden disappearance of her beloved solider and SWORE she WOULD get her REVENGE!!!!!

After many hours of restless sleep, she found out that he had been stationed at Fort Gibson in Indian Territory.  Vivia came up with her REVENGE plan.......she would cut off her hair, put on men's clothes, and depart for Fort Gibson to enlist in the army.  Now, this girl was "TICKED OFF". lol Careful not to get caught, she watched the young officer and waited for her chance to put her DEADLY plan into action.  On a cold day in December an opportunity presented itself.  She stationed herself with a gun behind a rock she knew her ex-finance would ride by, and as he did, she shot and killed him,  When they found him, they assumed he had died at the hands of the Indians and brought his body back to the fort to be buried.

At first Vivia was extremely continent in knowing that she had gotten her revenge!!!!  But then guilt set in.  Each night she would go to his grave and weep.  On a frigid January night in 1870, she was overcome by her grief and weep herself to sleep.  The next morning, they discovered her frozen body.  The fort's doctor examined her corpse and found that the young soldier wasn't actually a man...the frozen body was that of a woman.  A priest in whom Vivia had confided then came forward, and her whole tragic story unfolded.

Today, you can find Vivia buried at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Oklahoma in a place called the Circle of Honor.  The Circle of Honor is for solider's who in some way "stood out" in the army.

Vivia's ghost is often seen weeping in soldier's uniform for her solider's forgiveness.  Who knows, if that peace will ever come.

Haunting at the Inn?

Grand Union Hotel
Over the years, tales of friendly and mischievous ghosts said to frequent the Inn have stimulated the imagination and interest of visitors. Skeptics tend to ignore the idea as superstitious stories.

Folklore, legends, stories, all have the same meaning. However here at the Inn many try to prove the existence of ghosts residing at the Inn. There has been suspected of three separate entities that haunt the Inn. Also since the devastating fire, new strange occurrences now exist.
As with any old building or family heirloom, many stories of good and bad times can be associated with them. Hauntings of course are more interesting because they almost always are linked to story of great pain, anguish, or death.

Pierre

Pierre is the most famous lingering soul thought to be haunting the Inn. His presence on the second floor has been felt by two known specialists in paranormal activity.
His "existence" was discovered in the late 1960s when a famed psychic named Sybil Leek was invited to visit the Inn. Upon touring the building, she claimed she felt the presence of a ghost and said that a burly bearded mountain man of about 35 years of age told her he had been shot while on the second floor of the Inn. He claimed his name was Pierre Devon or Duval.
Pierre Devon's ChapsNoted California Ghost researcher, Richard Senate was the second to confirm the existence of Pierre.
While he knew of the findings of Sybil Leek, his investigations did not occur until years later, after the fire and rebuilding of the Inn.
His accounts were of strong disturbances within the room Pierre was reportedly shot, and cold spots in the stairway.
Mr. Senate was there to investigate a claim of a ghost and he was elated to find out it was true. However, many still wonder how the ghost could remain after the original building had been moved, and then destroyed by fire.
Was Pierre a real person? Did he die in the old Inn? Is he still there? All questions that were never answered with viable documentation. However, the believers still believe Pierre is there, and he is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Within the pictures taken during the fire of 1970, it is said you can see ghostly image of Pierre rising from the flames.

The Haunting Lady of the Inn

The apparition of a woman of days past, dressed in elegant gowns, can be seen from the corner of your eye before dissolving into thin air. The only trace of her brief appearance is the soft scent of her perfume wafting through the halls.
Stagecoach Inn Staircase

These occurrences were very common during the renovation of the Inn from 1953 thru 1965 when the building accommodated an exclusive gift shop known as Tantony. It is claimed that lingering spirits are known to be more active during major changes to the place they reside.
Psychics have felt cold spots in the stairway of the Inn...Is it her?
Whether the Lady of the Inn survived the Fire of 1970 is still not known.

The Lost Little Boy

During the 1890's there is said to be the tale of a young visitor of the Inn whom wandered into the wilderness and was never seen again.
At the Inn the sound of a young boys voice is said to be heard calling for his family as he continues to try to be reunited with them.

The Baby Cradle

Haunted Baby CradleOn exhibit in the Museum is a cradle with an interesting story.
After the Inn was reconstructed, due to the devastating fire of 1970, curators requested donations from the public to help replenish the furnishings. A woman called to donate a family heirloom which she felt would fit into the decor of the Inn perfectly.
The cradle had been in her family for many generations, and since she was expecting a child, she had received it as a gift.

One day her baby, sleeping in the cradle, starting crying. As she returned to the room to attend the infant she noticed an apparition next to the cradle rocking it gently back and forth. Not knowing whether her child was in danger, obviously frightened for her child's welfare, she donated the cradle to the Stagecoach Inn.

THE MANSION OF TORTURE!!! BE GLAD YOU DIDN'T VISIT THIS HOUSE ON HALLOWEEN!!!

Three-storey rectangular building

                                                               The Lalaurie mansion,
                                                              New Orleans, Louisiana
This is ONE house you will be GLAD that the kidos' didn't go to the door for candy!

The presumed epitome of high society, Lalaurie Delphine, owner of the Lalaurie mansion on Royal Street, in New Orleans was reputed to have an evil side.  But it was her cook who would finally put an end to her cruel ways.  Chained to the kitchen floor, the cook started a fire, attracting the attention of the local fire department.

When help arrived, they were horrified with what they found.  The firefighters discovered punishment rooms with victims of macabre treatment still chained inside, barely alive.  For her own amusement Lalaurie had cut off ears and various body parts of her slaves!   Some poor souls were disemboweled.  Others had their eyes and mouths sewn shut!!!  The 1834 fire had found
male slaves, stark naked, chained to the wall, their eyes gouged out, their fingernails pulled off by the roots; others had their joints skinned and festering, great holes in their buttocks where the flesh had been sliced away, their ears hanging by shreds, their lips sewn together ... Intestines were pulled out and knotted around naked waists. There were holes in skulls, where a rough stick had been inserted to stir the brains. DeLavigne did not directly cite any sources for these claims, and they were not supported by the primary sources.  Can you imagine WHAT kind of person does this sort of stuff just for shear pleasure!  With the discovery of her cruelty and torture, Lalaurie was forced to flee New Orleans.

In the years since, during renovations, workers have discovered numerous skeletal remains in the mansion's floors and walls.  And these poor slaves that perished at the hands of Delphine still haunt the mansion even today!!!  The clanking of chains being dragged down the steps has been heard.  Agonizing screams and groans radiate from the attic.  And one visitor of the mansion awoke to find hands encircling his throat!  He claims that while he was being strangled the spirit of a black woman appeared and came to his rescue.  His protector removed the offender's hands and them both spirits disappeared.

The haunting, it seems, is not confined solely within the mansion's walls.  Passerby of this three story mansion's have witnessed a young black girl jump to her death!  Sadly, she is believed to be the ghost of a slave who escaped her chains, choosing to end her life before her insane mistress could end it for her.

Now, some people say "there is no evil in this world".  Are you kidding me????  Could this lady have been any more "evil"???  This is the part about being a ghost hunter that is hard sometimes.  You read stories and do research and find out that THESE kinds of people really existed and I'm sure still do.  It breaks my heart to know someone would treat another human being this way.  Ok....moving on....if you guys have any COOL pictures of this place or had any experiences here, please write me.  I would love to hear about them.

BACHELOR'S GROVE CEMETERY-ONE OF THE MOST HAUNTED PLACES IN THE WORLD!!!!!!

Ok.  Before I get the emails saying this weeks topic isn't what I posted under "weekly topics"....I know!  LOL.  But here's the good thing......I do state that I might change my mind.....and guess what....I did. LOL

With Halloween coming up, it seems everyone is talking about creepy and scary places, so I decided to write about one of the MOST HAUNTED PLACES IN THE WORLD...Bachelor's Grove Cemetery, in Bremen Township, Cook County, Illinois.(You know me, I didn't want to be left out!)  Bachelors Grove Cemetery is just northwest of Midlothian and Oak Forest, near the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve on the Midlothian Turnpike (near its intersection with Central Avenue), in the southwest Chicago suburbs.

No doubt this is a long forgotten cemetery EXCEPT for those of us looking to have our hearts racing and blood pumping spending the night in a very dark, very haunted cemetery!   There is no question that vandals have not been kind to this place.  One of the most disturbing things to see in this cemetery is that of holes that have been dug above some of the graves.  Vandals digging for treasures belonging to the long lost souls that rest here.

For those searching for Bachelor's Grove, it can be found by leaving the roadway and walking up an overgrown gravel track that is surrounded on both sides by the forest. The old road is blocked with chains and concrete dividers and a dented "No Trespassing" sign that hangs ominously near the mouth to the trail. The burial ground lies about a half-mile or so beyond it in the woods.

Who is this seemly lost soul?
This cemetery is one of the SCARIEST CEMETERIES you can imagine!!!(And believe me, I can IMAGINE some good ones!)  It has reports of a white lady (or "white madonna") that walks the grounds during a full moon while carrying an infant, Phantom farmhouse; a ghostly farmhouse which is purported to shimmer, float, and then vanish, mostly reported during the 1950s. There are also reports by witnesses of the house shrinking as they approach it, then disappearing altogether, a two-headed ghost; near the same slough and many more sighting.  But one of the most notable......is that of a woman sitting on a grave which ran in the Chicago Sun newspaper some years ago.

AWESOME!
Lady in White?

I went to Chicago last year and went on an investigation with the White-Dog Paranormal Group. (Who I LOVE!) They had visited the cemetery before and they said it was really, really scary.  They had gotten some good EVP's from there along with lots of unexplainable sounds and feelings.  They wanted to take me there before our scheduled Asylum investigation that we had planned for that night, but THANK YOU Chicago traffic......it was way to late to stop by before the investigation. Just my luck!!!!  I am headed back to the Illinois area in December and hopefully THIS TIME I can see this place for myself.  And like always, I will be writing and sharing with you guys my experience.

If you would like to read more on this INCREDIBLY HAUNTED PLACE go to : http://www.bachelorsgrove.com/

Better yet....PLEASE, PLEASE let me know if you have visited this amazing place.

Wow!
