About Me

My photo
Behind Every Cloud is a Kindred Spirit (BECKS)I lost my grandfather when I was 17. I had a VERY difficult time getting over it. How could I still communicate with him? I loved him so much I didn't think I could live without him. I read everything I could get my hands on to do with the "afterlife" and that started it all...the love of Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal. I have been researching the paranormal for over 37 years!! It is my way of staying in touch with my grandfather. Being a Ghost Hunter is not always as exciting as it seems on TV. Many nights I have sat in the dark and not a thing happened. BUT it is those times you DO get that one voice, that one explainable picture or have an experience that sends chills down your back that makes it sooo worth it all!!! My purpose of this blog is not to make people believe in ghosts but maybe to open their minds just a little bit... I LOVE this crazy thing called Ghost Hunting. It is as much a part of me as breathing. I am just a girl that refuses to accept we can't still contact our loved ones after they die. My grandfather won't let me.

TOP TEN SCARY MOVIES FOR A HAUNTINGLY FRIGHTFUL MOTHERS DAY

See the source image
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY EVERYONE!!!   I hope everyone that has children or is a Mom to our four legged friends or has to be both Mom and Dad and to those that are not related at all but step up and give love and guidance in the absence of a biological birth Mother enjoy this very special day just for you.

I want to give a quick shout out to MY MOM for allowing me to be me!  And trust me....I don't think that was always easy! lol  But she has always supported my passion for the paranormal and although she may not want to go with me to sit in dark, old houses (although I never understood that)...she has ALWAYS loved me and made me feel like she is very proud of me know matter what I did.....yep....even GHOST HUNTING!!!!!  I love you MOM.  And even though my grandmother has passed she is YELLING IN MY EAR......"WHAT ABOUT ME?????  NOT GOING TO MENTION ME?????" lol  I love you to Nanny and miss you everyday. :)  There are you happy now....

Ok...so not all Moms like flowers and to be taken out to dinner....SOME MOMS....like.....well......lets just say the "unusual". LOL  So guess what???  This is my suggestion for you!!!!

So is your Mom into scary shows, interested in the paranormal or just ....likes creepy stuff?????  I have picked my top 10 Scary movies for you to plan a Mother's Day your Mom won't soon forget.  READY...here ya go....

First, to get Mom "in the Mood" take her out for a drive and end up in a CREEPY cemetery.  Take pictures, EVP's and just enjoy being together....yes....even in a cemetery.

Next, get ready for the FUN STUFF.  The gift.  You can't forget the gift.  So pick out a really scary or ghost book, buy a nice candle, maybe even buy one of the small Meglite flashlights so she can try some flashlight communication sometime at a haunted location and put it in a cute little bag. You can even through in a throw (or a cute little blanket) because with the scary movies planned for the night she is going to need something to "hide her eyes" in.  lol  Plan on spending the night with your Mom because after the scary movies she isn't going to want you to go home!

Now, at some point during the day or that morning make one of those cute little graveyard desserts and have it ready for MOVIE NIGHT.  If you want to get really creative you can get bones, skeletons etc. candies at Michelle's, Hobby Lobby or a place like that and come up with your own creation.  Here are just a couple suggestions and YES even a healthy one for THOSE Moms. lol

Get all comfy and cozy with Mom, turn down the lights or even turn them out...have your dessert ready and a bottle of RED wine...(ok...white is fine to but RED for blood...lol).  Now, put in your movie and get your SPOOKY ON!!!

Enjoy your CREEPY MOTHER'S DAY NIGHT with your Mom and most of all...have FUN...tell your Mom how much you appreciate and love her.  That's what she really wants to the most anyway. :)

THE EASTER SUNDAY MASSACRE-NO PLACE TO HIDE FOR ONE FAMILY

HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!!!

On Easter Sunday, we (my family) do what millions of other people do on Easter.  We color the eggs the night before and make a BIG mess in the process....we get dye on our clothes, dye on the table and chairs and yes sometimes we stick the tip of our fingers in the dye to see if we can dye each finger a different color (ok, I know all families don't do that, but hey...what the heck...it's fun!  Not so fun to get off though. lol). Then Easter morning, we go to church, come home and put on our "comfy" clothes,  have a nice lunch and then it's EGG HUNTING TIME!!!!! The adults hide a THOUSAND eggs and the kids grab their baskets just waiting to hear that one little word.....GO!!!!!!!!!

On Easter Monday, March 31, 1975 the Ruppert family was doing just the same thing.  (Ok...maybe not the dying the finger tip part) The family gathered together to enjoy a beautiful Easter day.  But this would be an Easter that the entire country would NEVER FORGET!

James Ruppert, then 41, shot 11 members of his family, including his mother, Charity; his brother, Leonard Jr.; his sister-in-law, Alma; and their eight children — Leonard III, 17; Michael, 16; Thomas, 15; Carol, 13; Ann, 12; David, 11; Teresa, 9; and John, 4 — in his mother’s home on 635 Minor Avenue in Lindenwald. Ruppert was convicted of two counts of murder and received a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity for the other nine killings. He was sentenced to 11 life sentences, and is currently in the Allen Correctional Institute in Lima.

James Ruppert's early life was troubled. His mother Charity said that she would have rather had a daughter, and his father Leonard had a violent temper and little affection for his two sons. Leonard died in 1947 when James and his brother Leonard Jr. were 12 and 14, respectively.
Leonard Jr. became the father figure of the family and constantly picked on James during their upbringing. At 16, James was so dissatisfied with his home life that he ran away and attempted to commit suicide by hanging himself with a sheet. He was unsuccessful and returned home.

At the age of 41 James had moved back in with his 65-year-old mother Charity Ruppert in Hamilton, Ohio. Charity was frustrated with her son's inability to hold a steady job and his constant drinking; she threatened to evict him. James also owed his mother and brother money, having lost what little he had in the stock market crash of 1973-4.

On Easter Sunday, the eight children of James' older brother Leonard, were enjoying an Easter egg hunt in the front yard, while the adults were making lunch in the kitchen. At 4:00PM James woke from his hangover, loaded a .357 magnum, two .22 caliber handguns and a rifle. He killed his brother, sister-in-law/ex-girlfriend, and mother. Then he killed his nephew David, and nieces Teresa and Carol in the kitchen. He then went to the living room and killed his niece Ann and four nephews, Leonard, Michael, Thomas and John.

He killed his victims by shooting them with a disabling shot and finishing them off with a shot to the head or through the heart. The whole massacre took 5 minutes. James sat in the house for three hours before calling the police. County prosecutor John Holcomb viewed the crime scene and stated that there was so much blood on the first floor, it was dripping through the floorboards into the basement, which to this day can still be seen on the wood. A total of 35 shots had been fired by Ruppert and all 4 weapons were recovered at the scene.

The night before the murders James went out as he did nearly every night. At the 19th Hole Cocktail Lounge he talked with employee Wanda Bishop, a 28-year-old mother of 5. She would later state that James told her he was frustrated with his mother's demands on him and his impending eviction and that he needed to solve the problem. He left the bar at 11:00 PM that night and later returned. When Bishop asked him if he had solved the problem, he replied "No, not yet." James stayed at the bar until it closed at 2:30 AM.

James reportedly told authorities who arrived on scene: "My mother drove me crazy by always combing my hair, talked to me like I was a baby, and tried to make me into a homosexual". As for motive, it was believed James was looking for an inheritance of $300,000. He would plead insanity, then become "cured" after getting a "Not Guilty" verdict, with all that cash just waiting for him. Unfortunately for James, it didn't turn out that way.

All contents of the home were auctioned off a year later. The first family to live in the house after the murders were unaware of the crime that had taken place. They sold the house after hearing voices and other unexplained noises. Over the years other families have moved in and out.

Even though this weeks post was sad, I hope you can now put it behind you and go and have a wonderful EASTER!!!  But don't forget to come back next Tuesday! :)

Truth or Legend? A Mother’s Ghost Saves Her Son

haunted highway
In the wee hours of June 10, 1994, Deborah Hoyt awoke with a start. She was staying with her husband at a relative’s home in Sacramento, CA, but felt she must leave immediately. The winding mountain road between Sacramento and the Hoyts’ own home in Lake Tahoe made Deborah uneasy, especially at night, but the urge to leave was overwhelming.
“I just felt like there was something pulling me up the mountain,” Hoyt said in an appearance on Paranormal Witness.
At a section of Highway 50 known as Bullion Bend, near Placerville, Deborah spotted a nude woman lying near the shoulder of the road. The woman was positioned on her side, bent legs together with an arm over her head. She was ghastly pale and looked dead.
Horrified, Deborah and her husband drove to the nearest phone and called the police. Sheriff’s deputy Rich Strasser arrived at the scene, but found no trace of a woman, nude or otherwise.

A Disappearance

Four days earlier Christene Skubish, 24, and her son Nick, 3, left her parents’ home near Sacramento to embark on a new life. Bound for Southern California, Christene was excited to begin a new job and provide a better life for her son. However, the pair never made it to a friend’s house as planned. The concerned friend eventually phoned Christene’s father who alerted authorities. The police brushed off the report at first, saying Christene and Nick would eventually show up.

Odd Dreams

Meanwhile, Christene’s aunt began having strange dreams. In one, she was riding in the backseat of a car and saw the silhouette of a woman and a young boy riding up front. It was night, and the car was traveling in a heavily wooded area. In another dream, Christene and Nick stood in a yard as hurricane-force winds whipped leaves from the trees. Christene tried and tried to reach her son, but the howling wind repeatedly pushed her back. The aunt asked Christene if she was okay, but a haunted-looking Christene said no.
The aunt’s dreams had come true in the past, and she was sure something terrible had befallen Christene and Nick. Frightened, she called Christene’s father and then left to look for the missing pair.

A Terrible Discovery

Back in Placerville, Deputy Rich Strasser couldn’t forget the report of a nude woman near the road. Deborah Hoyt seemed like a credible witness, and Strasser was certain she’d seen something. After learning about Christene and Nick’s disappearance, Strasser wondered if the two incidents were related. On a hunch, he returned to Bullion Bend to scour the area.
The deputy found nothing out of the ordinary at first, but he soon came across a child’s shoe. After peering into the brush, Strasser spotted a demolished car at the bottom of a 40-foot embankment. He raced to the vehicle and found Christene and Nick inside. Christene was dead, her body fully clothed in the driver’s seat. Nick was curled up nude in the passenger seat, alive, but in critical condition.
Nick ultimately survived his injuries, though he’d gone five days without food or water. Authorities believe Christene fell asleep at the wheel, leading her car to plunge off the highway and roll down the steep embankment. The coroner determined that she’d died upon impact or shortly thereafter.

Help from Beyond

Though he was only three at the time, Nick says he remembers the accident and the long nights after. He remembers climbing up and down the embankment. He remembers a glowing white light hovering near the mangled vehicle and a shadowy figure standing nearby. He remembers telling his family about the angel that had watched over him.
Christene was fully clothed when Strasser found her, and authorities believe she died soon after the crash. So who was the dead woman on the roadside? Hoyt believes it was a spirit sent by God to save Nick before it was too late. Christene’s friends and family believe she watched over her son, even after death, appearing as a nude apparition to get the attention of passing motorists.
“I absolutely think something special happened here,” Deputy Strasser said on Paranormal Witness. “I think it is a miracle. It’s a whole series of events that I can’t explain. I’ve often thought about it. I just don’t have the answers.”

Truth or Legend?

Unlike many paranormal tales, the facts of this case have been well documented. Christene Skubish indeed ran off the road near Bullion Bend, and Deborah Hoyt indeed reported a naked woman near the accident site BEFORE anyone knew about the accident. So who, or what, did she see?
The most intriguing theory is that Christene’s ghost remained near the wreckage and appeared nude to draw attention to Nick. Some versions of the tale claim “numerous motorists” called authorities about seeing a naked woman near Bullion Bend. However, mainstream coverage of the event only mentions Deborah Hoyt’s report.
Another theory is that Deborah saw Nick on the road, not Christene. After all, police did find Nick naked in the vehicle and he does remember climbing up and down the embankment. It was also dark and Deborah may not have seen the figure clearly. Could she have confused the three-year-old boy with a grown woman?
The other paranormal elements of this story – Deborah Hoyt’s sudden urge to leave, the aunt’s dreams, the white light, and the figure watching over Nick in the car – are interesting, but of course impossible to prove.
What do you think of this story? Do you believe something supernatural occurred or is there a more logical explanation?

PERSONAL CONNECTIONS. DO WE HAVE ONE???

At a time when ghostly encounters are sadly and most often depicted as, and defined by people covered in electronic gadgets and shouting out the names of the deceased into moldy basements and dark attics, is that our "connection" to the other side?  Does that mean we have a "personal connection"?

Communicating with the spirits of the dead is a timeless fascination, and today is no exception.  Our society is inundated with paranormal media, leaving many to wonder how much of what we see and hear is real. If someone claims to have "all the answers"...beware...none of us...and I do mean NONE OF US have ALL the answers.  Now with that said, I DO believe that some...not all of us...have had TRULY personal connections with someone that has passed away....be it a loved one, friend, teacher, spouse or someone that has just touched our life in a very special way.

So lets talk about that.  Do I feel I have a "personal connection" with MY Nan?(Grandfather) You BETTER believe that I DO!!!!!  And so do MANY of you!!!  A "personal connection" with someone that has passed away can be something like.......lets say  a "feeling" a moment that "beyond a shadow doubt" that you feel or sense that person is with you in that exact moment.  You suddenly smile for know reason, you shed a tear just because you looked out your window and saw a blue bird on your mothers bird feeder......and you remember very vividly her joy as she would watch the birds out her window.

I am going to share a VERY PERSONAL experience of someone very dear to me and that I love so much and are so honored that he would allow me to write about HIS "personal connection".  This story is about my boyfriend Deak and his "personal connection" to his wife who he lost in 2008 to cancer.  She left behind two small boys, one 9-Grant and one was 12-Chase and one devastated husband who she had been with for 26 wonderful years.  Let me also state that writing this is no easy task but I want you, my readers, to understand that you CAN and DO have "personal connections" to your loved ones.....there is no need for you to feel like you have to have other people believe you in a world where "doubt" seems to come all to easy when you are talking about the paranormal.

As stated, Deak and Susan had been married for many years.  They enjoyed an exceptionally good relationship, they respected each other, loved each other and were the best of friends. They both loved to travel and many times took the boys on memorable vacations. Their life consisted of TWO VERY IMPORTANT things......their boys, Grant(9) and Chase(12) and HOCKEY..........but not just any hockey team......they lived and breathed CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS Hockey!!!!  Deak is originally from Chicago and Susan from Minnesota where they both developed a very passionate love for the sport.

Deak and Susan had a small but comfortable home when Deak began to climb the "corporate ladder".  One day Susan noticed that she had a lump on her inner thigh that became painful and sore.  Deciding to go to the doctor and have it checked out a biopsy was performed and the news unfortunately wasn't good.......completely blindsided.........she had cancer. After many doctors visits and several years of surgery's  Susan was diagnosed CANCER FREE!!!! They couldn't have been happier!!!!  They decided to pursue a bigger house and better school system for their sons.  So they bought a beautiful new home and moved in on Deak's birthday in July, 2007.  Things seem to be going just the way they planned.  Susan was a stay at home mom and devoted her time to taking the boys to and from Hockey practice and making a loving home for Deak.  Deak continued to work hard and became a successful VP of a Fortune 500 company.

Enjoying her new life in their dream home, Susan was soon told that the cancer had returned. Being of strong will.....Susan never lost faith that she would "beat the cancer" and a couple of times they thought she had. But, the cancer kept coming back..... and each time with more of a vengeance than the time before.  The cancer would soon take it's toll on Susan's body turning this beautiful, young woman into a weak and frail soul that soon became bed ridden.  But this NEVER affected Susan's need to still try and be a loving Mom and Wife to Deak and the boys....and Deak would not falter.....not allowing anyone BUT him to care for his love....he worked during the day....and the minute he arrived home after a long days work....he would stay up all night giving Susan her medication, her shots and care for her in everyway possible.  After several months of Chemo and sleepless nights of administering pain medication....... Deak and Susan lost their battle......leaving Deak alone with two small boys who would be growing up without a Mother to raise on his own.

Deak and the boys turned to traveling  and music as a way of coping with the loss of Susan following the group U2 around the country and traveling to the Blackhawks games.  Now, here is where the "personal connection" comes in IN A BIG WAY!!!  It was 2010 and the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup after forty-nine years!!!  Deak and the boys were on CLOUD NINE!!!! Tradition is that the first game AFTER the season ends, they (the Blackhawks) celebrate by hanging the Championship banner in the stadium.  Deak and the boys were sitting in their living room of the house they had bought with the thought that this would be a place Susan and them would be for a long, long time enjoying many fond memories.  The Blackhawks celebration ceremony came on and the song WITH OR WITHOUT YOU by U2 began to play.  This was a SPECIAL day for more than one reason.........for more than the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup............. it was Deak and Susan's wedding anniversary!!!!  The song is very moving if you listen to the words.......it's about going on WITH OR WITHOUT someone.   Deak and the boys were shocked and became very emotional as the song began to play..........for them, hearing WITH OR WITHOUT YOU during the Blackhawks celebration, they felt her presence.  They KNEW this was no coincidence, as this was her way of letting them know she is still a part of their lives.

So you tell me...............was this a "personal connection" from the other side???? Blackhawks win the Cup???? The U2 Song??? And on their wedding anniversary???

Now, I know "personal connections" are different for everyone.  But make no mistake about it......Do we have personal connections to our loved ones that have passed????  The simple answer is "YES"........ just ask Deak and the boys.

IN MEMORY OF SUSAN JEAN DEACON
